Dear Just Married Writer,

I'm [archiveofourown.org profile] greygerbil on AO3, thank you for writing for me! Right from the start, I want to say you don’t have to do anything with my prompts, they’re just there in case you want some ideas. If it has my pairing and avoids my DNWs and perhaps even includes a tag I chose, I’m sure I’ll enjoy it! All ratings are great. I included a list of my general likes and smut likes which apply to all my requests. When it comes to kinks, you can include anything not listed under my DNWs; point to this part of the letter if someone asked if I opted in, I like a lot of stuff.

Feel free to entirely erase the existence of canon relationships or break them up if they get in the way of the pairings I requested, whichever works best with what you’re trying to do.

Fic where the couple is not yet together but clearly in love, or on the road to getting together, or having their first time kissing/in bed together are great. However, so are established relationship fics. Whatever suits your ideas! For the marriage part of the exchange, I’m interested in the courtship, the proposal, the wedding, the wedding night, and the aftermath of living as a married couple equally, so choose what suits you best.

Some prompts may read like ideas for longer fics, but if you’re interested in them, please just grab a scene with the general idea out of the middle of those hypothetical longfics and write me that! I love fic of all length and don’t want anyone to feel like they have to go above the minimum word count. I just get excited writing prompts sometimes, heh.

Considering the number of canons I have where you slaughter your way through untold heaps of NPCs, I should also point out I generally have no problem with gore, blood, and graphic violence.

  • I also enjoy A/B/O AUs, so in case you’re inspired to write that, I placed the character I most enjoy as an omega behind the / . I also like things such as beta/omega or alpha/alpha, though! Mpreg is also always welcome. Again, the person I’d like to see pregnant more will be behind the /. For mpreg childbirth, feel free to give them new genitalia to manage it or just have an anal birth or a Caesarian. (I also have one group of three, in that case, the last person listed is the one I’d want to see pregnant/as an omega.)

Haytham Kenway/Charles Lee
I love Haytham and Charles, villains who really respect and like each other and stand behind their idea of a world of order being what is needed for humanity where they guide the rest of us stupid sheeple humans to a better future, lol. I immensely enjoy young Charles’ senpai-notice-me dynamic with Haytham and his adoration of him; but I also love that eventually it goes both ways, when Charles becomes Haytham’s trusted second-in-command. I’m happy with a marriage that’s symbolic/just for them (since they cannot actually get married in their time period) or an AU where same-sex marriage was always allowed even in their time.
  • I’d love any type of proposal between them, either one prefaced by a very deliberate courtship and ending in a properly prepared setting for the proposal, since they’re both English gentleman, after all, or one spurned on heat-of-the-moment after a dangerous fight or when one or both of them have been grievously wounded – or perhaps even after a moment of intense happiness, like after a reunion or a passionate night together.

  • If Charles proposes, does he regret it immediately, or try to take it back, thinking maybe he has overstepped his boundaries with Haytham? Or is it during a part of their relationship when their mutual affection is already firmly established? (Or both? Maybe old insecurities come up again long past their being sensible?)

  • If Haytham proposes, he can probably be pretty sure of a positive answer. But perhaps he also feels he should lay his claim because Charles has another suitor (not that Charles actually seriously considers him/her)? There’s also canonically rather long times when Haytham wasn’t in America (I think some two years after the end of his part in the game), so maybe he worries he has lost Charles in the meantime? Or he proposes before he leaves? Perhaps it’s even unplanned and sponatenous, surprising even himself?

  • Perhaps for his proposal, Haytham coaxes Charles up onto the highest building in town – or has him do the leap of faith off of it before proposing.

  • Charles seems to come from a similar social position as Haytham. Perhaps Birch wants something from Charles’ family and because of that decides he should marry into the Templar Order, sending him to Haytham as his fiancé. Or perhaps he was to be married to Braddock, but Haytham decides he has a better idea? Does Charles know it’s because Haytham is interested in him, or is he worried Haytham is just doing it to spare him the marriage to Braddock?

  • Or, in fact, marrying into the Templars is the only way to get in – Charles’ induction ceremony already sort of looked like a marriage! Either it’s always a marriage of the usual sort, or it’s usually a symbolic marriage (to create a bond to another member of the order) that turns into more in Haytham’s and Charles’ case. Again, this could also be to prevent a marriage to Braddock, as above.

  • The gods who decided someone must be married would in this case probably be the Isu. Perhaps there’s an artefact the Templars use to determine whether two people are blessed and should be together, and when Charles and Haytham are put before it, it reacts? Or anything like that, really.

  • I’m always here for mpreg, so the two of them being married to create an heir would be great. I’d prefer for Charles to carry the child. Perhaps at first it’s a business-like agreement that grows into more, alongside the Arranged Marriage AUs above or below? But I’m also here for them simply deciding to have a family out of love.

  • I also like Modern AUs, provided they are still Templars, or Abstergo Industries employees, one should say. I would gladly read about the modern Colonial Rite Templars preparing/celebrating a wedding, whether it’s just fluff or whether there’s an assassination attempt before they even get to the cake.

  • Newlywed fluff – moving into a house together, going on a date, plotting the Templar-fication of America… whether it goes without a hitch or they have Assassin (or other adversary)-related problems they have to solve together, both sounds great to me.

  • The other Templars have been teasing them about being like a married couple for ages – but they are quite surprised to find out how right they are.

  • For smut, I prefer Haytham on top. I doubt their wedding night would be their first time if they’ve been together a while, but I would still love to see it. I would be here for Charles working very, very hard to impress Haytham in every aspect, worshipping his body, doing all the work for him. Does Haytham lean back and enjoy it, or does he turn the tables eventually? Or perhaps they just fall into bed happy to be finally united. But just... you know, anything would be amazing here, really.

  • If they haven’t been together before, how does the wedding night go? Do both have experience with men? Which one of them is more forward? Or do they perhaps courteously decide to keep sex off the table in case their husband does not want it and then regret it later when they realise they would really like to do it? (Pining is always great content, especially when eventually resolves!)

Alexios/Brasidas
Brasidas was amazing and the romance option of my heart and you can’t convince me he shouldn’t have been one. If you are in that part of the timeline with your fic, feel free to ignore the fact that he died because, uh, deathfic of requested characters is really not my thing, lol. But lasting, crippling injuries are fine! Or maybe Alexios can save him before any of that happens. I love these two as a battle couple (that tag team fight!), but I also like that Brasidas is one of the few Spartans who doesn’t jump to warfare and murder as the first and only solution to all problems. I’m happy with a marriage that’s symbolic/just for them (since they cannot actually get married in their time period) or an AU where same-sex marriage was always allowed even in their time. I write mostly with protagonist!Alexios in mind, but feel free to rearrange the prompts so they fit Deimos!Alexios if you like that version better.
  • What does a proposal between them look like? Spartans had a tradition of a ritualistic kidnapping of the bride, so maybe Brasidas decides to snatch Alexios or Alexios wants to capture Brasidas. It could be a surprise (especially Alexios might just go for it), or discussed between them beforehand, or they even have a bit of a competition going who can steal the other first?

  • But perhaps Alexios knows different traditions from Kephallonia. In other parts of ancient Greece, an exchange of gifts was apparently usual, for example. Maybe he tries to win Brasidas over like that. Does Brasidas understand what is going on? Or maybe it’s something entirely different, somewhat odd that only really took hold in a small community in Kephallonia and Alexios doesn’t realise it’s not more wide-spread. Similarly, perhaps Brasidas confuses Alexios with some Sparta-specific traditions, too.

  • Alexios blurts out his wish to marry after finding Brasidas grievously wounded after Pylos or Amphipolis.

  • I’m fine with the divine decree to get wed coming from the Isu, or with the Isu not existing and Alexios legit just being like, Zeus’ descendant or something and it being about actual Greek gods. Either way, the divine beings have decided Brasidas and Alexios would make a perfect match.

  • One source says Spartan decided marriages by putting the women and men into a dark room and having every man capture a woman. Perhaps Alexios and Brasidas end up in such a room and, because they distract each other or due to a misunderstanding, one manages to capture the other. And just as they step out – idk, perhaps there’s thunder and lightning in a completely blue sky, or something along those lines, but everyone decides that unconventional though it may be, the gods have blessed this marriage.

  • To become a full citizen, Alexios has to get married to a Spartan man or woman, the kings decide. Brasidas, being a good friend, doesn’t want to leave him hanging. Besides, there were penalties for staying unmarried too long in Sparta, so perhaps it also makes sense from his side. Just an arrangement between friends, right? Well, except of course they catch (or have already caught) feelings.

  • Brasidas has to get married soon since he’s already way past thirty, but he is not happy about the options being presented to him as the best. Alexios selflessly offers himself as an alternative. How long does it take these two to figure out they actually love each other?

  • To become a full citizen, Deimos!Alexios has to get married to a Spartan man or woman, the kings decide. This, of course, is a lot more difficult for Brasidas to swallow, since he has barely survived his encounters with him. Does he still do it to do Kassandra a favour, thinking it’ll just be a formality? (Which of course it will not be as he and Deimos get closer.)

  • I’d love to see the wedding night! Slight preference for Alexios on top, but I feel like these two probably try everything out with each other. I’m here for an ethusiastic, but also a careful, perhaps even somewhat awkward approach between them for an arranged marriage (is one of them perhaps even less experienced with men?), or just them having fun on their wedding night after a love marriage (even though it’s very likely not their first time together).

  • Alexios and Brasidas fell in love quickly and eventually decided to get married to show their commitment even as they had to go their separate ways for a while. Now that Alexios is back in Sparta, they’ll have to tell everyone, including Alexios’ mother (or, depending on when they choose to do it, his whole family).

  • A scene of the life of Alexios and Brasidas, warrior husbands. Just newlywed fluff (as much as Spartans get fluffy) with this battle couple would be great.

  • So Pausanius, the Cult-controlled king, is also from the same Agiad line of kings as Leonidas. Perhaps after his removal, it turns out Alexios is the closest male Agiad heir and he’s now a king of Sparta. The ephors got to vote on the king taking a wife (or husband in this case) and think it’s high time Alexios gets married. They choose the venerated general Brasidas. (If you want to include mpreg, the marriage could also be arranged so Alexios gets to making more Spartan baby soldiers with a husband to carry them. Perhaps after Brasidas’ wound in Amphipolis, he’s not fit for full combat anymore, so this seems like a good idea to the ephors to make him useful to Sparta in that way? How does Brasidas feel about it?)

  • Alexios’ special bloodline needs to be continued. Either by way of an Isu artefact, mpreg just always being possible for (perhaps only some?) men, or A/B/O, Brasidas could be the one to carry that kid. And they want to make it official and get married!

Alexios/Stentor
Alexios and Stentor have such a deliciously complicated relationship. Stentor is obviously threatened by Alexios’ presence, and Alexios is probably jealous that Stentor got to have Nikolaos as a father whereas Alexios got to be shoved off a mountain. However, considering how attached Stentor is to Nikolaos, I doubt he has any birth family that cares about him, either. He and Alexios eventually might find themselves unexpectedly able to bond over some things. They also would make a great battle couple and their verbal and physical sparring is a lot of fun.
  • Alexios needs to marry a Spartan to regain his full citizenship and Nikolaos asks Stentor to help Alexios to make up for some of the damage Nikolaos has done to his son Alexios. Since Stentor is obedient to his father, he agrees.

  • Stentor is supposed to get married, but the wo/man the ephors would like him to choose is not someone he considers a good fit at all. Alexios doesn’t plan to ever get married, so in the hopes of patching up their relationship, he offers Stentor help in the form of a wedding. However, it doesn’t remain a business arrangement…

  • Spartan marriage included a ritualistic kidnapping of the bride. This could be fun with Stentor reintroducing Alexios to some customs of his old and new home by "kidnapping" him, or Alexios deciding to woo Stentor in the traditional way by stealing him away. (Also, Deimos!Alexios doing the kidnapping could be interesting as well, though probably a good deal more frightening at first.) They might even get into a competition who can capture the other first.

  • But perhaps Alexios knows different traditions from Kephallonia. In other parts of ancient Greece, an exchange of gifts was apparently usual, for example. Maybe he tries to win Stentor over like that. Does Stentor understand what is going on? Or maybe it’s something entirely different, somewhat odd that only really took hold in a small community in Kephallonia and Alexios doesn’t realise it’s not more wide-spread. Similarly, perhaps Stentor confuses Alexios with some Sparta-specific traditions, too.

  • One of them proposes to the other after a dangerous fight/situation they were both in, or even during a squabble between them (perhaps Stentor learns of Thaletas and thinks he’s just a pale replacement to Alexios?). The proposal is completely unplanned but meant very honestly.

  • One source says Spartan decided marriages by putting the women and men into a dark room and having every man capture a woman. Perhaps Alexios and Stentor end up in such a room and, because they distract each other or due to a misunderstanding, one manages to capture the other. And just as they step out – idk, perhaps there’s thunder and lightning in a completely blue sky, or something along those lines, but everyone decides that unconventional though it may be, the gods have blessed this marriage.

  • I’m fine with the divine decree to get wed coming from the Isu, or with the Isu not existing and Alexios legit just being like, Zeus’ descendant or something and it being about actual Greek gods. Either way, the divine beings have decided Stentor and Alexios would make a perfect match.

They choose the successful polemarch Stentor. (If you want to include mpreg, the marriage could also be arranged so Alexios gets to making more Spartan baby soldiers with a husband who can carry Alexios’ babies.)

  • If you wanna go the smut-heavy route, I have some preference for Alexios on top, but I also love Alexios and Stentor fighting for dominance and Stentor probably doesn’t lose every time. I’d love to see the wedding night, whether it is the result of an arranged marriage or of a love marriage (and thus likely not their first time). If it is their first time together, perhaps one of them has less experience with men, or generally feels awkward sleeping with people they aren’t exactly super close with (well, the latter canonically doesn’t seem to apply to Alexios, but hey, he doesn’t have to take any of these romance options; and we don’t know about Stentor in that regard)? Or do they even see it as a chance to blow off some steam and find they are distressingly well-matched between the sheets for all their disagreements outside the marital bed?

  • Alexios and Stentor had their issues, but after another meeting past Boeotia (or even past the end of the game) they fell in love and eventually decided to get married, perhaps secretly at first because Alexios wants to clean up the Cult first before making it clear whom he likes, or because they had to part for a while for some other reason. Or perhaps it’s even Deimos!Alexios and Stentor who fall in love after spending some time together and Deimos is worried that, though they took him back, people in general or perhaps even his family may not actually think he’s “socialised” enough to get married to a good Spartan. Either way, how does the family react when they tell them?

  • A scene of the life of Alexios and Stentor as newlyweds, as fluffy as Spartans get, or even with them being a battle couple out there in the field while still enjoying their marital bliss (the word is just a typo away from martial, after all).

  • For A/B/O, Stentor as the angriest omega in all of ancient Greece would be a lot of fun (however, him being somehow at peace with his nature would also be interesting, so whichever way you want to write it). Perhaps omegas get treated differently/better in warrior-ethos-focused Sparta than they do in the rest of Ancient Greece, so Stentor has quite a bit of independence there, but him and Alexios need to pretend to be married on some mission outside the city because Stentor would not be allowed to go certain places/do certain things otherwise? Which then perhaps develops into them quite liking their new status as husbands… Or the ephors decide that the alpha who obviously has shown himself worthy of getting a child on the very decorated omega Stentor is Alexios and so they are to be wed.

  • Alexios’ special bloodline needs to be continued. Either by way of an Isu artefact, mpreg just always being possible for (perhaps only some?) men, or A/B/O, Stentor could be the one to carry that kid. And they want to make it official and get married!

Alexios/Brasidas/Stentor
Alexios needs all the sexy Spartan men, and why not at once? I feel like this could be a really interesting triad relationship. Brasidas being a popular Spartan general would almost certainly have met the hand-picked adopted son of the Wolf before, after all, and they both have quite lively relationships with Alexios. I’m happy with a marriage that’s symbolic/just for them (since they cannot actually get married in their time period) or an AU where same-sex marriage was always allowed even in their time. Having more than one spouse was not common in Sparta, but also not undocumented, so it’s also up to you whether that’s institutionalised or something the three decide for themselves. I write mostly with protagonist!Alexios in mind, but feel free to rearrange the prompts so they fit Deimos!Alexios if you like that version better.
  • Two of them are already married, the third has so far been in an affair with the two of them. The two feel that the third is not wholly happy with this position. And for two men, it’s easier to ritualistically kidnap one additional “bride” (as per Spartan tradition), so that’s what they do. Or they simply ask – that’s also an option! They can always playfully drag him home later.

  • Two of them are married, the third is supposed to get married to someone they find unbearable. The other two decide to take him as a third husband into their marriage to save him from that… except it doesn’t stay as simple as that and they all fall in love.

  • Brasidas, time-line wise, should be some years older than Stentor and Alexios. Perhaps Stentor had a crush on him when he was a young man at the agoge (and Brasidas came by to help train him sometimes) or when he was a young soldier. Now Alexios is married to Brasidas and Stentor is just so unbelievably annoyed that Alexios doesn’t just steal his father and his house, but also the man he used to want (or still wants). And it certainly doesn’t help he’s secretly a bit interested in Alexios, too… the end of that song is that he ends up in bed with both. Eventually, they offer Stentor to join their marriage.

  • Stentor and Brasidas were wed when Stentor was eighteen or so, and due to some misunderstandings or early awkwardness, the marriage never really got off the ground, though in truth they like each other very much. They decided it’s fine to look elsewhere, since their relationship doesn’t seem to work out, and both separately slept with/fell in love Alexios. When that is revealed, it actually starts out working pretty well between all three of them, and Alexios is invited into the marriage as a third husband.

  • Stentor and Alexios turned over a new leaf after Boeotia and eventually even got married. Through some way, they both find out the other used to be in love with Brasidas. Accidentally or because the two decide to seduce the one that got away, Brasidas is drawn into the marriage as the third husband.

  • Alexios is with Stentor/Brasidas, and Stentor/Brasidas at some point mentions that he used to have an affair/friends-with-benefits thing with Brasidas/Stentor. Now Alexios can’t stop thinking about it because he does kind of want both men. Or hell, perhaps Brasidas/Stentor mentions that they slept with the respective other at some point, and his boyfriend Alexios is like “hey, I did, too”, and they invite the missing third back into their bed, and then perhaps he gets tangled in the relationship as well. Eventually, they realise they would all like to stay together and Brasidas – as probably the highest ranking out of them – applies to the ephors on whether he can take two husbands.

  • For all the above prompts (which are just examples!) and any other constellation you can think of, I’d love to read the proposal, the wedding itself, the three-way wedded bliss afterwards (even if it probably includes more battlefields and sparring than the usual idea of it), and of course the wedding night. For smut, I somewhat prefer bottom Stentor and don't have a strong preference between the other two, but I imagine in this big Spartan pile-up, there'll be a lot of back and forth between all three.

  • The three of them were together on a mission for Sparta or had some other thing happen to them that brought them closer and eventually decided they should marry. What does their family (and the rest of Sparta) say to this three-way union once it is revealed as they all return?

  • I’m fine with the divine decree to get wed coming from the Isu, or with the Isu not existing and Alexios legit just being like, Zeus’ descendant or something and it being about actual Greek gods. Either way, the divine beings have decided that Alexios should get two husbands, Stentor and Brasidas, and Sparta wouldn’t dream of disobeying the gods…

They choose both the successful polemarch Stentor and the decorated general Brasidas. (If you want to include mpreg, the marriage could also be arranged so Alexios gets to making more Spartan baby soldiers with husbands to carry his babies.)

  • Alexios’ special bloodline needs to be continued. Either by way of an Isu artefact, mpreg just always being possible for (perhaps only some?) men, or through A/B/O, Stentor or Brasidas could be the one to carry that kid (slight preference for Stentor here, but both works). And they want to make it official and get married, since all three of them are excited for the baby and want to be its fathers.

Barnabas/Herodotos
Okay, I can’t help it, these two are just really cute together and I would seriously be happy for anything involving them. They keep by your side throughout the whole story and loud, exuberant Barnabas makes such a great contrast to quiet, more subdued Herodotos. They spend a lot of time together on Alexios’ ship and seem to get along pretty well, even though they obviously banter a bit and have different views on many things. I’m happy with a marriage that’s symbolic/just for them (since they cannot actually get married in their time period) or an AU where same-sex marriage was always allowed even in their time.
  • Herodotos is a historian and Barnabas loves to tell stories. I could imagine either of them packing their pseudo-proposal into a tale that they tell the other, kind of testing the waters if the other thinks their story is romantic before they go for it. Herodotos could probably keep it subtle enough it’s not obvious – but perhaps Barnabas understands more quickly than Herodotos hoped or expected. Barnabas is probably a bit more direct and Herodotos understands immediately – but perhaps he doesn’t dare hope that this is what Barnabas means?

  • Herodotos and Barnabas get in a lot of exciting sea battles with Alexios and may even end up targets for the Cult. Perhaps after another crazy episode, one of them asks to wed very spontaneously.

  • They both seemed to look forward to the Olympics very much, fanboying over that Spartan fighter, and probably had a lot of fun there. Perhaps one of them decides here is the perfect place to propose – or even to get wedded, if they’re already at that stage.

  • There is a lot of political trouble between Athens and Sparta. Perhaps Barnabas, who is kind of landless at this point despite his Silver Islands roots (which are difficult, considering recent rebellions there), needs a better connection, and Herodotos offers to arrange a marriage between them – just so Barnabas has a voice to speak for him should he ever get in trouble, of course. But it’s not quite so simple, after all…

  • Herodotos mentions the will of the gods a lot in his Histories and Barnabas is obviously quite pious in his own boisterous way. Whether it’s Isu or actual Greek gods, if they got a decree to marry from the gods, I’m sure they would just have to listen!

  • According to the wiki, Herodotos and Barnabas have known each other for a while. Perhaps they have been married all that time! Their paths weren’t always the same, but they always loved each other and are happy to be together now. How is the reunion? Is Alexios surprised to find out?

  • Well, these two are a bit older, but I’d still love to read about the wedding night! They may not go at it quite like the young ones anymore, but with age comes experience... although Barnabas does keep very fit, working on a ship, so it might be really fun if he surprised Herodotos with some feat of strength or endurance. Herodotos, for his part, has probably learned a lot of clever tricks from the Athenians. I somewhat prefer top Barnabas, but let’s be real, I would take everything for these two.

  • Just married couple fluff, whether they’re newlyweds or have been together for twenty years. Herodotos writes down Barnabas’ stories? Barnabas brings him to the prettiest places he’s found in his travels?

  • Herodotos and Barnabas are both rather old, so marriage for an heir is probably not a deliberate action in their case (though perhaps that is part of some divine decree?). But maybe they accidentally create an heir (through mpreg, an Isu artefact, or A/B/O) and decide to get married because of that. Somewhat prefer pregnant Herodotos, though Barnabas would also make a funny carrier.

Ezio Auditore da Firenze/Leonardo da Vinci
Ezio and Leonardo are such an amazing pairing. Whether you go with the timeline of the first game, when Ezio is still wilder, or the second game, when they’re both older and perhaps even a tad wiser, I love the trust they place in each other and their banter and friendship. I’m happy with a marriage that’s symbolic/just for them (since they cannot actually get married in their time period) or an AU where same-sex marriage was always allowed even in their time.
  • Marriage is not legally allowed for two men, but Ezio proposes, anyway. After all, nothing is true and everything is permitted – he can still be Leonardo’s husband in their hearts.

  • Marriage is legally allowed for two men and brilliant and lively Leonardo, whose interest in men wouldn’t be criminal in that case, has quite a few suitors (but maybe already lost his heart to Ezio). Ezio picks up on Leonardo’s popularity and finds that he is jealous. He decides to make Leonardo a marriage offer before anyone else can.

  • Ezio’s family married him to the more mature Leonardo in hopes of tempering him, but before the wedding night, his family gets slaughtered. Leonardo offers to keep the marriage going so that Ezio at least has someone to call on when he gets thrown in jail or something and Mario is not in the city. However, in time more develops between them than a friendship…

  • Shortly after his family is killed, Leonardo marries Ezio to give him some manner of legal protection, as above (perhaps they even pretend Ezio is Leonardo’s new husband from like, Sicily or something, giving him a new name). How many years does it take Ezio to figure out his husband is actually in love with him?

  • Leonardo is being pressured to marry someone loyal to the Borgia family or the Templars in general. Ezio decides to save him from that by marrying him first. Just to protect his friend, of course, or that’s what they both tell themselves so they won’t be tempted…

  • The God’s decree could be that some Isu artefact Ezio finds or the assassins keep around says that Ezio and Leonardo would be the perfect match, which to the Assassin Order means they simply must get married.

  • Of course, I would be very interested in the wedding night – though I very much doubt Ezio waited until that moment to get into Leonardo’s bed, but maybe he has something special planned. Or perhaps it is an arranged marriage and they do go to bed on their first night for the first time? Or they have a “postponed wedding night” after being married for some time and thinking the other is not interested. I somewhat prefer bottom Leonardo, but both works.

  • I would love some simple newlywed fluff between them. Perhaps Ezio jokes that now that he can’t go around looking elsewhere for, uh, affection, he’ll simply have to keep Leonardo busy. Maybe Leonardo wants to draw a picture of his husband. Maybe Ezio shows Leonardo some special places.

  • Ezio and Leonardo have been married for a long time, but because Ezio didn’t want to put Leonardo even more into the firing line than he already was, he never told anyone. Finally, after Ezio has rid himself of most of his enemies in Rome, he can make the marriage officially known.

  • The Isu aren’t going to let their super special bloodline stop just because Ezio fell in love with a man, so the magically make Leonardo pregnant. (Alternatively, always existent mpreg or A/B/O leads to an heir.) That, or Ezio actively wants to have a family with Leonardo and they get married to start their family properly in the eyes of the law.

Adéwalé/Edward Kenway
I love their relationship, they just seem to work together so well and have such an easy understanding from the very first. I could see them starting out as friends with benefits sliding into lovers territory, or simply pining for a bit before they finally get it together. I’m happy with a marriage that’s symbolic/just for them (since they cannot actually get married in their time period) or an AU where same-sex marriage was always allowed even in their time.
  • Adéwalé and Edward are obviously in a lot of dangerous situations, so I can see either of them blurting out a proposal.

  • Edward courting Adéwalé with all the stuff he steals and finds would be really cute. Or, somewhat more serious, Edward trying to change into the person that Adéwalé wants him to be in the later parts of the game and Adéwalé liking that effort.

  • Pirates had a sort of marriage (matelotage), so I would love for Edward and Adéwalé to enter into that kind of relationship even if it's not an AU were actual marriage by law is allowed for men.

  • Being with the Assassins, an Isu artifact reacts to them. They are told that this means they are meant to be married. Do they listen to the wisdom of the Assassins? Were they maybe just looking for an excuse to ask?

  • Adéwalé got Edward pregnant and asks to marry him when it becomes clear. Edward is worried he's just doing it out of a sense of duty, but Adéwalé really loves him.

  • Concerning the heir prompt, for deliberate conception, it would be nice to get a little of their thoughts on what it feels like for them to be actively planning a family after they get married. Maybe Jenny has joined them and Edward hopes to be a better dad to both children than he was before (if Jenny exists at all in this AU, for example, she might not if Edward is an omega; either way, Edward probably wonders if he’ll be a good father, considering the whole game is basically about showing Edward what an irredeemable fuck-up he is). Maybe Adéwalé is low-key worried this family will be torn away from him as might have happened with his own family back in the day and that hurt still sits deep (Adéwalé was born into slavery, so I’m assuming his family was not allowed to decide about their own or his whereabouts). Just these sort of family concerns they would have as newlyweds.

  • But also, just them being happy newlyweds (whether in the fluffy sense or in the "killing slavers together" sense) would be great.

  • For smut, I enjoy bottom Edward, but I like both. I highly doubt if they were together before that this is their first time, but I'd really like to see it regardless. Maybe they find themselves more touched by the moment than they thought?

Male Hawke/Varric Tethras
I love this pairing anywhere in the timeline – Dragon Age II, Inquisition, Post-Inquisition, it’s all great because the friendship between Varric and Hawke is always great. I was so sad Varric wasn’t ever a love interest, so if you’re so inclined, please fix it for me! For Hawke, I love all colours or colour combinations (Friendly in conversation but stern in actions? A joker who is just a little bit too chipper still while taking off heads? A grumpy ass with a heart of gold?) and he can have a custom look, too. Sarcastic Hawke and Varric obviously get on like a house on fire, Varric is super fond of Friendly Hawke and his never-ending goodness, even if he does poke fun at him, and the tension between Aggressive Hawke and Varric is amazing (especially if over the years Varric learns that while Hawke may come off as a callous bastard, his actions don’t always match his words). I also enjoy all classes for Hawke.
  • Hawke and Varric get through so many moments of emotional turmoil and fear of death that they have like a dozen chances a year to accidentally blurt out a proposal under stress or after a near-death experience. Choose any which one you like!

  • Depending on which type of Hawke you choose, their formal courtship could be funny (maybe with purple Hawke teasing Varric with lots of old dwarven marriage customs, and Varric desperately asking him to finally just propose already?) or earnest (goodie Hawke might try to make him gifts and take him places?) or rather forward (aggressive Hawke could find the one Thedas culture where ritualistic spouse kidnapping is a thing and drag Varric to his mansion?). Or maybe Varric decides to find out how people court humans in Ferelden and surprise Hawke? Whatever you like, really, I’d just love to see their courtship.

  • To pull himself out of the whole Bianca affair and stop all those assassins knocking at his door, it’d be best for Varric to appear to have a spouse. Hawke offers himself. However, it doesn’t just stay a friendly deal...

  • Hawke is left behind in the Fade. Months later, he is spat back out into the real world after fighting his way through, or being released by whatever kept him. Their reunion is the first time when it becomes obvious to the Inquisitor and the others that who Varric actually lost was his husband, since they have been married in secret for a while, but Varric kept quiet about it to keep Hawke safe and vice versa.

  • Wedding night smut is always welcome. I prefer bottom Varric. I would love to see their first time as a married couple, whether it’s the actual first time because it’s an arranged marriage or whether they have a lot of experience with each other already.

  • Varric and Hawke enjoying newlywed life (or possible having it disturbed by demons or the usual fare of enemies); some of their fears and hopes for that part of their life, considering family hasn’t exactly been an easy topic for either of them so far.

  • Varric and Hawke have an accident (magic, dwarf-biology-related or otherwise) and Varric gets pregnant by him. Is it pretty much just an excuse for them to finally make their relationship official by law, or is it perhaps a friends-with-benefits agreement that both really wanted to be more serious already and that they now have to navigate to that point?

Male Inquisitor/Varric Tethras
Varric has a very different relationship with the Inquisitor than he has with Hawke, but I think it’s still quite an interesting one because the Inquisitor gets Varric out of his element in Kirkwall (and the Inquisitor makes him camp out in the wild with him most days and Varric allows it, so that must mean something). All species, personalities, and classes are fine for the Inquisitor, and I’m totally fine with custom looks and even custom backstories and personalities in some way because due to the huge amount of choice in player creation, I felt that, for example, an Elfquisitor could often feel little different from a Humanquisitor except for a handful of special dialogue choices, so if you wanna bring in their heritage and background more, I’d be totally happy for that. I do, of course, have my thing for size differences, so a qunari or human would be great for this pairing, but that’s only one aspect to consider, haha.
  • The Inquisitor and Varric get through so many moments of emotional turmoil and fear of death that they have like a dozen chances a year to accidentally blurt out a proposal under stress or after a near-death experience. Choose any which one you like!

  • Varric courting the Inquisitor or the Inquisitor courting Varric would be great. The Inquisitor can be from several different places and backgrounds, so are there any misunderstandings? Do either of them even understand they are being courted? And if they do, where does the final proposal happen?

  • To pull himself out of the whole Bianca affair and stop all those assassins knocking at his door, it’d be best for Varric to appear to have a spouse. The Inquisitor offers himself. However, it doesn’t just stay a friendly deal...

  • A powerful lord/lady demands the Inquisitor’s hand in marriage to ally with the Inquisition. Josephine says the best way to dissuade the person would be if the Inquisitor were already married. Varric does the deed to help out. Of course, there may be more between them, after all.

  • Josephine says that to make the Inquisitor seem more settled and stable, it might be a good PR move for him to get married. (Maybe this is even later when Varric is already Viscount, but it could also be just Varric being a respected member of Kirkwall’s more important society due to his popular books, relationship to the Champion, and strong standing in the city.) Varric and the Inquisitor both don’t plan on getting married for real anymore, so they do it. But the marriage of convenience quickly becomes more.

  • The Dwarfquisitor has Carta ties, so it’s not impossible he and Varric have met before. Perhaps it was way more than that. Perhaps Dwarfquisitor was at the meeting to see where his husband had been dragged to, and this is revealed to Cassandra and the rest of the Inquisition when they meet Varric again. How do they react? And how do Varric and his husband deal with the new magic hole in the Inquisitor’s hand? (If you can think of a reason Varric may have known the other Inquisitors before – Kirkwall is a busy city! –, then I’d be totally happy for them in this prompt, too.)

  • The Inquisitor and Varric want to marry but think the union would draw too much attention down on Varric (he’s had this problem of famous friends before, it’s kind of how he ended up in this mess...), so they keep their marriage secret and perhaps have an informal ceremony in some village Chantry or even just by themselves? Does it stay hidden, or do other people eventually find out?

  • The Inquisitor and Varric have been getting busy between missions. Perhaps they still pretend it’s a friends-with-benefits arrangement to each other or they realise they are falling in love. Either way, Varric ends up pregnant, due to magic, dwarf biology, or any other reason you can think of. Do they use it as a convenient reason to get married, or are they still pining and not confessing their feelings like doofuses and pretend to each other they’re just marrying so the kid can have the full protection of the Inquisition? In that case, hopefully they figure it out eventually...

  • Do they get to enjoy their wedding night (I enjoy bottom Varric, but both is fine) or are they interrupted by yet another crisis and have to postpone it (perhaps multiple times)?

  • Just the two of them being happy newlyweds, somehow, squeezed between their duties to the Inquisition. Or perhaps they married later, after the end of Trespasser, and the Inquisitor joined Varric in Kirkwall, where they actually get to relax a little bit sometimes?

T'Challa/M'Baku
I love this pairing so much. It already had so many of my favourite tropes, what with T’Challa sparing M’Baku knowing that he is needed by his tribe, M’Baku wanting T’Challa out of the way but then actually saving him, and of course that scene in the end where he shows up with reinforcements. Just a lot of good stuff.
  • T’Challa and M’Baku probably have their hands full with work now that Wakanda opened up. Then there’s the whole Thanos thing. With all of the chaos and danger, there are ample opportunities to propose in a tense or happy moment. Was the other person expecting it or where they both futily pretending so far that it was just a friends-with-benefits thing?

  • Arranged Marriage is perfect for this pairing, of course. Maybe it’s a tradition that the heirs of tribes have to marry into the royal family at certain intervals or something. Or it’s to show that M’Baku and his tribe are ready to be integrated. Are they both on board for it, perhaps already silently crushing? Or are they not quite convinced this is a good idea at all and only slowly start to grow closer?

  • Since we’re on marriage and heirs, I’m sure if they have magic herbs and super technology, they could somehow even make an heir by blood, be they grown in a tube or in someone’s belly (if it was mpreg, I’d prefer if M’Baku was pregnant). Or perhaps it’s A/B/O or some other biological reason men can get pregnant and they only get married after realising they had an accident and M’Baku is pregnant – perhaps both wondering if the other is just feeling pressured to do so to retain the royal line? (Spoiler: they’re both in love.)

  • They got married just before the snap. Now the reunion can happen. Super extra points if M’Baku staid alone all that time because he was not yet ready to believe T’Challa was gone.

  • Perhaps T’Challa has been arranged to be married to someone he does not really get along with. In a last-ditch attempt to save himself from that marriage, T’Challa asks M’Baku to marry him, since he is of high enough standing to be a reasonable choice and would surely like to be closer to the throne. It’s an arrangement at first, but of course it turns into more.

  • Just T’Challa and M’Baku dealing with their probably pretty stressful everyday life but still finding moments to enjoy as newlyweds would be super cute.

  • Wedding night smut would of course be awesome. I prefer bottom M’Baku, but I’m sure they wrestle for it sometimes and he doesn’t always lose – he may just enjoy losing more than that first time they fought, haha. But I would also love a sex scene that’s not led in by a squabble or sparring match, but is slow and loving or desperate and passionate. It would also be great to see them experiment with kinks and such, just something light-hearted and fun for both.

Stannis Baratheon/Davos Seaworth
The stern, duty-bound lord, the knight with the undying loyalty who despite that does not fear to tell him the truth and is valued for this quality... what is there not to love about these two? I’ll never get tired of the fanfic and I’m always happy to have more. Feel free to tweak Westeros so that homosexuality is accepted and gay marriage allowed and/or mpreg possible if you want. But you can also stick much closer to canon. I know it’s pretty difficult to avoid my cheating DNW while staying in the canon timeline here, so feel free to handwave their marriages away (annulled? they were widowed? divorce is allowed in Westeros? the wives have their own lovers and/or they are separated, if still married in law?) or have them never happen.
  • With Melisandre in the game, perhaps a marriage (and/or heir) are needed for Stannis to fulfill the prophecy. Davos is the obvious choice in Stannis’ eyes, but is Davos happy to participate in the games of the Lord of Light, even if he does it out of duty to his lord? Does Stannis feel comfortable bringing Davos into it so closely? Are they even aware this is not just for prophecy’s sake but that they are both in love with each other? Would love them navigating their proposal/wedding/marriage with these magical complications.

  • Davos is just a lowborn knight, but I don’t think Stannis would take that as a reason not to court him like he would a higher born lord/lady. He will do it properly as duty demands!

  • Perhaps Davos also knows some common folk customs for courtship and applies them to Stannis in an effort to win his heart (though he probably doesn’t think he’ll get his hand, but Stannis is about to teach him otherwise)?

  • Stannis is supposed to marry someone he finds completely unbearable; or Davos is being strong-armed into a marriage with a lord or lady who has taken a fancy to him and Davos doesn’t have the clout to actually say no. Stannis saves Davos or Davos saves Stannis by marrying him, blocking him for other connections. But of course, this is not the simple deal it seemed to be at first, since they both have feelings for each other.

  • It’s decided Stannis is better taken off the marriage market, so he is married to Davos, who has little and means nothing and won’t disturb anyone’s political games. How do they make their arranged marriage work? Were they already in love with each other, or at least one of them, or is it a slow process during the marriage?

  • For an AU, let’s say Davos’ sons were born of him, not of his wife (or at least however many of them would already exist at whatever time you want to set this). Stannis’ marriage got annulled because he and his wife didn’t have any children. Solution: Stannis is made to marry Davos, who has already proven fertile. He may not be a great choice status-wise, but hey, at least he’ll probably give heirs if Stannis can manage it this time.

  • Perhaps Stannis and Davos fell into bed together and the next time they meet, Davos is visibly pregnant. Once Davos tells him that yes, it is his child, Stannis decides he will marry him, come what may. Of course, it helps that he really loves Davos; but Davos may be worried he is just doing it because he’s so honourable.

  • I would be happy to see a traditional Westerosi wedding or even expanded customs from what we see in the books.

  • I would love wedding night smut. I prefer bottom Davos, but both works. I could see Stannis having a lot of hang-ups around sex, and if he hasn’t been married before, he might even still be a virgin. Perhaps Davos can help him with that. I also like the idea of Stannis discovering he really likes sex (at least when it’s with Davos) and them just being distracted with each other all the time after their wedding. Maybe Stannis is worried he’s just as bad as his brother? But he just wants the one man, of course. Meanwhile, Davos is very positively surprised.

  • A story about them settling into life as newlyweds would be interesting, whether it is during peace time or one of the conflicts they are a part of.

  • Davos is a selkie shapeshifter. Stannis accidentally acquires his pelt, so now Davos is bound to marry him. Stannis finds out in the wedding night or shortly after they are wedded and of course now believes his husband was basically forced into the marriage. However, Davos really does love him. However, if you can think of a reason for Stannis to steal the skin deliberately (without this going into noncon), that would also be interesting! Or maybe he grabs the skin and now Davos considers himself married to him (while being aware Stannis probably doesn't think that way) and Stannis eventually finds out - about Davos being a selkie, or what him having the skin means (maybe if he already knew about Davos' nature), or both. Also, feel free to change all of these prompts around for Davos finding shapeshifter Stannis' stag skin.

Hugo Stanton/Aelred Barling
This (so-far) two-book series is in great parts so entertaining to me because of Stanton’s and Barling’s relationship. Even though Stanton rolls his eyes at Barling a lot and Barling likes to criticise Stanton’s behaviour, you can feel how comfortable they are with each other by the end of book two, how much they obviously care for each other and aren’t afraid to show it. It’s such a nice development and I would like to see it taken further. I’m happy with a marriage that’s symbolic/just for them (since they cannot actually get married in their time period) or an AU where same-sex marriage was always allowed even in their time.
  • These two are in a lot of danger and both have had canonical near-death experiences, too. There’s plenty room for blurted out proposals! Whether these could actually lead to marriage or are just a sign that they want to commit to each other privately, since it’s not allowed by law, I’m sure it’d mean a lot to them.

  • I could also see a more measured proposal from Barling, who wants to do all the proper steps (again, whether it’s a marriage by law or just something they promise each other). Or perhaps Stanton tries to show him he’s serious and actively courts him before popping the question?

  • If same-sex marriage is allowed, perhaps Barling was engaged to his former lover? Who of course never actually planned to marry him and had just promised it because he wanted to get Barling into bed. If Stanton knows of this, is he worried to propose because he doesn’t know if Barling might think he’s doing the same thing? Of course, in truth Barling knows Stanton better than that.

  • Barling is supposed to marry a man that he finds very disagreeable, but if his bosses say he must, he basically has very little chance to reject their choice, being as dutiful and obedient as he is. Of course, the plan wouldn’t work if he were already married. Enter Stanton, who offers his help via marriage. Does Barling take the chance or does he reject the offer because he wants Stanton to have a real love marriage someday? (Not that he isn’t desperately in love with him, but Stanton doesn’t know that.) So Stanton may have to admit this is more than a friendly gesture to him.

  • The other way around: the judges want to marry Stanton off to make sure no Rosamund-esque trouble happens again, and Stanton isn’t happy at all with their choice. Barling offers himself to help him, since it’s not like he’ll ever marry for love, anyway (and that crush he has on Stanton means while he doesn’t expect anything from him at all, it might be nice to think of himself as Stanton’s husband). Of course, they are both a lot more involved emotionally than they pretend.

  • Another option: the judges think they make such a great team that they should be married to each other. (Perhaps also for Rosamund-related reasons, as mentioned above.) How do Stanton and Barling navigate this? Are they awkward, secretly happy, worried and guilty that the other might not like them that way? Is Barling worried Stanton doesn’t like men at all? Are they both in love and think the other isn't? What does the wedding night look like – do they try it or do they skip it and later regret it because they wanted it, after all, and now don’t know how to put sex back on the table?

  • Stanton and Barling are made to marry before they have gotten to know each other more closely in book one. How does that go? (I hope it has an eventual happy ending!)

  • I would love to read about their wedding ceremony if it’s not something possible by law but just something they do privately, for the two of them. Barling is obviously fairly religious and troubled about his preferences, so how does it feel for him to get to have holy matrimony after all? Did Stanton do this mostly because he knew how happy it might make Barling but gets into it more than he expected, or was he enthusiastic from the beginning?

  • I would love wedding-night related smut. I prefer bottom Barling. Stanton obviously has a lot of experience with women, but he hadn’t thought about sleeping with men before, and Barling had that one time with the prostitute that barely worked out and the, what, couple dozen times that Richard deigned to show him a good time? He did say it wasn’t as often as he’d wanted. They both have a lot left to learn, it seems, and I’d love for them to get to experimenting. Also, Richard doesn’t seem like the most selfless guy, so I doubt Barling knows what it is like when someone really sets their mind to making him feel good. Perhaps Stanton could show him! I’d also be here for Barling being quite desperate to impress Stanton, thinking he can’t measure up to his former conquests in looks or experience, and Stanton reassuring him (once he realises) that he doesn’t need to try so hard because Stanton already likes him.

  • Them being newlyweds while solving crimes or travelling England would be a lot of fun. I just want these boys to be happy!

  • I like mpreg and would love a pregnant Barling. Whether it’s a biological thing in that world or A/B/O or whatever, Barling carrying their child and doting Stanton would be a lot of fun. Do they get married because Barling is pregnant or does it happen within the marriage?

Boromir (Son of Denethor II)/Aragorn | Estel
I love everything about this pairing. The tension that their positions and personalities create is just great. They are both warriors of much talent and good leaders, but in the end, Boromir is the one who has to live with his guilt of failing, since I guess Boromir Lives AUs really give the best opportunity for them to have longer plots together. But Aragorn’s return to Gondor and the ring quest didn’t exactly go without a hitch, either, and he still has to prove that old Strider can actually be a good king. Lots still to unpack there. Aragorn’s relationship with Arwen obviously stumbles into my infidelity DNW, so if they are broken up or never got together in the first place, that’d be great.
  • Arranged marriage AUs are just so tempting to prompt for this couple. Either Denethor arranges for it, or Aragorn does so himself, asking Boromir if he would like to reunite their lines to honour the service the Stewards have done for so many years. Is there an unexpectedly hot wedding night, or does it take them a while to warm up to each other? Boromir might still feel angry/guilty about that ring business, but I could also see Aragorn worrying that Boromir might not exactly want to fall in bed with the dude who took what would have been Boromir’s throne, realistically (perhaps he’s even right about that). And while they are dealing with their feelings, there’s still a kingdom to run, so a lot going on. I would love it if they eventually came together, though.

  • Perhaps Aragorn’s healing powers are great enough to save Boromir, but the ritual means that they are now bound together and married. How do the two of them handle this?

  • Aragorn is getting a lot of offers for his hand, and some of them are pretty hard to turn down without causing grudges. He asks Boromir if he would consider marriage to him, since it would be an uncontroversial choice and a good way for Aragorn to honour Boromir’s family.

  • The king needs an heir and for that he needs a husband. Boromir is chosen (out of love, arrangement, or because they talked about it and decided it would be sensible). Would prefer pregnant Aragorn. If they’re not yet a real couple, does the unborn baby bring them together quickly or does it take a while?

  • Maybe in Gondor (or even up in the North where the Rangers live), it was not known that mpreg was something that still happened in this age of the world outside of legends. Either way, one of them is pretty surprised when Aragorn ends up pregnant! Now they have to marry to make it official.

  • Boromir or Aragorn decides to court the other properly before marriage. What are some courting rituals from their respective cultures?

  • I would love to see the wedding night. I somewhat prefer bottom Aragorn, but both is good. Aragorn may be a fancy king now, but that dude was slumming it as Strider for a good long while. He might be up for some things that Boromir is not used to from the nobles of Gondor. On the other hand, when has high nobility not had some out-there tastes? Perhaps Boromir is also not without his kinks.

  • Them handling the manifold issues the kingdom surely still faces while being newlywed would be great to see, trying to find some time to be alone together between everything and becoming a political power couple.

Éomer Éadig/Faramir (Son of Denethor II)
I feel like these two have the potential to be quite an interesting pairing. They seem fairly different in temper, but not so much so that they would not get along at all, for they also share a lot of values. Whether they get together through an arranged marriage or because they just fell in love after the war, it would be fun to see more of them together.
  • Neither of them is a healer, but maybe one of them is dying and the only unmarried person around is the other. Aragorn or some elf then teaches them how to do the ritual. Now the dying person is saved – but also married. How do the two take to this? Was there (perhaps secret) affection before, or does it only now grow between them?

  • A marriage is arranged between them to bring Gondor and Rohan even closer together. Éomer and Faramir navigating the other’s culture and learning more about each other in the process is something I’d find a lot of fun. Maybe there’s also different customs for proposal, weddings, wedding nights, or marriage in general.

  • A formal courtship from either of them because they fell in love would be really sweet. What customs and rituals does it include?

  • Éomer is getting a lot of offers for his hand, and some of them are pretty hard to turn down without causing grudges. He asks Faramir if he would consider marriage to him, since it would be an uncontroversial choice and a good way to strengthen the union between their countries.

  • As a child, Faramir was betrothed to Théodred, but since that obviously fell through due to death, the betrothal now (due to ancient customs) falls onto Éomer because he’s also Théodred’s heir.

  • The king needs an heir and for that he needs a husband. Faramir is chosen (out of love, arrangement, or because they talked about it and decided it would be sensible). Would prefer pregnant Faramir. If they’re not yet a real couple, does the unborn baby bring them together quickly or does it take a while?

  • Maybe in Rohan or in Gondor, it was not known that mpreg was something that still happened in this age of the world outside of legends. Either way, one of them is pretty surprised when Faramir ends up pregnant! Now they have to marry to make it official.

  • Feel free to also go completely AU and let them meet before the whole ring business and have them get married then, but separated quickly after the wedding because of the war so that they never get to really be newlyweds. They didn’t expect to be a politically important union (Denethor probably thinks Faramir could have gotten better than a king’s nephew), and then suddenly after the war Éomer is first in line for the throne and while they are trying to make up for what they have missed in the marriage so far, they also try grow into the role of royal couple.

  • Give me all the wedding night smut for these two! I prefer bottom Faramir somewhat, but both is good. Now, how many riding jokes can I make about the Rohirrim in just one prompt? Okay, I will spare you. But seriously, anything about these two. Faramir seems like he may be less likely to go for hook-ups, so maybe he’s not that experienced? Or perhaps one of them has more experience with women but little with men. Or they’re both experienced and just go at it like rabbits because they find they’re super compatible; conversely, maybe they have some gentle, fun, awkward sex while they get used to each other. All is good, really.

Jonathan Reid/Sean Hampton
Sean is the love interest I wanted! I enjoy how gentle and meek he is, but also how he obviously has a lot of courage and a stubborn head of his own. Meanwhile, Jonathan cares about people, but is a very good protagonist in that he seems always ready to push his own will through. Plus, they are both caretakers (who are also people-eating monsters) in their own right. I’m happy with a marriage that’s symbolic/just for them (since they cannot actually get married in their time period), or an AU where same-sex marriage was always allowed even in their time, or something where they get married in the future.
  • Sean is pretty damn Catholic, so I’m sure that he would love to get married to the person he likes. However, knowing that this is not possible with the way the church is at the moment, perhaps he has set the thought aside. Jonathan proposes to him, anyway, making the argument that they don’t need the approval of the church to marry in the eyes of God. This could be a sudden proposal or a planned, romantic one; or perhaps it’s Sean who tells Jonathan he would want to be married, if it somehow were possible.

  • AU where marriage is possible for two men, but Sean just never expected to be anyone’s choice and he wasn’t exactly out there looking for people to marry, either, he had other concerns. Jonathan, however, is happy to court and eventually propose to him.

  • Jonathan and Sean have been together for a long time, but only now gay marriage is becoming legal where they are living. Jonathan wastes no time to propose to Sean – or Sean proposes to Jonathan.

  • Sean gets pregnant by Jonathan (whether you go with the rather horrifying idea of pregnancy and babies alluded to in the game or whether Skal babies are way nicer and normal is your choice). Jonathan decides to make him an honest man and marry him. Is Sean worried he just feels he has to do his duty and how can Jonathan prove it’s not so?

  • Jonathan and Sean got married privately some short time after they started dating, but Jonathan decides to renew the vows with a big official church wedding when it becomes possible.

  • I would love to see their wedding night. If they can get married in 1918, did they actually wait (perhaps at Sean’s request) to sleep together, or is it not their first time but still really meaningful to them anyway? If it is the first time, how do they deal with Sean’s past, do they decide to take it slow? I prefer bottom Sean, but both works.

  • If they waited until the marriage, perhaps they now find they can’t keep their hands off each other.

Geoffrey McCullum/Sean Hampton
These two don’t meet in-game, but I feel like it’d be really interesting if they did. Geoffrey has probably never met a Skal like Sean before and his new perspective (either because he is a vampire or because Jonathan spared him) might keep him from killing him outright, and Sean could be really good for him, since surely Geoffrey must be affected by what has happened to him recently one way or the other and could use someone kind who is generally ready to listen and help. Besides, someone’s gotta keep the city standing if Jonathan left to America/the castle, and Sean and Geoffrey are both involved in doing just that, in their own ways. That would give them many opportunities to interact. I’m happy with a marriage that’s symbolic/just for them (since they cannot actually get married in their time period) or an AU where same-sex marriage was always allowed even in their time, or something where they get married in the future.
  • Sean is pretty damn Catholic, so I’m sure that he would love to get married to the person he likes. Hell, maybe Geoffrey was a nice Irish Catholic boy back in the day, too, or still carries some of that believe – the crosses of his heralds do work, after all. However, knowing that marriage is not possible with the way the church is at the moment, perhaps Sean and Geoffrey had set the thought of marriage aside. However, Geoffrey proposes to him, anyway, making the argument that they don’t need the approval of the church to marry in the eyes of God. This could be a sudden proposal or a planned, romantic one; or perhaps it’s Sean who tells Geoffrey he would want to be married, if it somehow were possible.

  • Geoffrey and Sean have been together for a long time (decades, meaning vampire!Geoffrey), but only now gay marriage is becoming legal where they are living. Geoffrey wastes no time to propose to Sean – or Sean proposes to Geoffrey.

  • Sean gets pregnant by Geoffrey (whether you go with the rather horrifying idea of pregnancy and babies alluded to in the game or whether Skal babies are way nicer and normal is your choice). Geoffrey decides to make him an honest man and marry him. Is Sean worried he just feels he has to do his duty and how can Geoffrey prove it’s not so?

Fitzwilliam Darcy/Charles Bingley
Bingley and Darcy have such a great relationship in the novel and obviously are already very fond of each other, so it shouldn’t be difficult to push that a little further. (This could be pre-canon or canon divergence, but I’d rather the women they end up married to in canon were not in the story as their lovers.) I’m happy with a marriage that’s symbolic/just for them (since they cannot actually get married in their time period) or an AU where same-sex marriage was always allowed even in their time.
  • If it is an AU where men can marry, what stopped Darcy from proposing to Bingley early, since they obviously like each other a lot? Perhaps he figure that Bingley only saw him as a friend? Or maybe he thought Bingley was silly at first, since he thinks that of most people, and only later, when it seemed too late to go the route of proposal, realised the true regard he had for him? And what, then, convinces Darcy to go for it, anyway? Maybe a rival appears? (Wickham back to his old games? Or an OC?) Or they just have a very romantic moment?

  • From the other side, why did Bingley not propose to Darcy? Maybe because he seems to be led by Darcy’s decisions, it just didn’t occur to him to do it without Darcy’s ‘permission’? Or he thinks that if Darcy wanted him as his husband, he would have asked himself? What pushes him over the edge to finally do it, after all? Is it a spur of the moment thing or does Bingley plan it, complete with courtship?

  • How does their proposal and wedding go if an official wedding is not possible and they just do it for themselves? Does Darcy buy lands close to Pemberley and they live in secret union?

  • Maybe their marriage is arranged by other family members long before they first meet? What do they think of each other when they do? How does Bingley win his prickly betrothed over?

  • Either Darcy or Bingley stand to be pressured into marriage with someone they don’t like (probably Bingley, since Darcy seems a bit too rich to take orders from anyone but royalty – but that could also be what happens), so their friend swoops in to save the other by marrying him first. But of course, it’s not just a marriage of convenience, in truth...

  • If mpreg exist, do they marry with the wish to have a kid and get to work rightaway, or do they get married because they accidentally already made one? I would prefer pregnant Bingley here. Is he worried Darcy married him just out of a sense of duty if he got pregnant before the marriage?

  • I would love to see their wedding night! Does one of them have more experience with men than the other? Are they nervous to impress or eager to explore? Is it their first time or one of many? I prefer bottom Bingley, but both works.

  • Their first weeks as newlyweds would be fun, them getting used to this new way of being around each other.

Sherlock

Mycroft Holmes/Greg Lestrade
These two are a long-time favourite pairing of mine. They seem like very different men, but in the end they both dedicated their lives to protecting people – and they both care about Sherlock, which is an excellent way to keep them talking in the early days of their relationship. Greg is not intimidated by geniuses and Mycroft seems a little more in touch with the idea of sex then Sherlock, so there seems to be a good opportunity here…
Note: Since the fourth season of Sherlock is pretty controversial, feel free to entirely ignore everything that happened there. Or don’t! I don’t have a preference either way, but I wanted to say it’s an option in case you weren’t happy with the developments. Also, if you want to go pre-Season 3, you could just set Greg’s divorce to be earlier or have him never be married in the first place.
  • Mycroft did not ever take himself for the kind of person who would blurt out a proposal unplanned, but somehow Greg has gotten him to that point.

  • Greg was aware that he’s the kind of bloke who might propose unplanned, but he had hoped to be smarter when with Mycroft, knowing the myriads of security reasons which make it a bed idea. And yet... here he is. But hey, at least not planning it at all was a good way to surprise Mycroft.

  • Either one of them proposes after a scary, life-threatening thing happens to them and puts what they want in life into sharp focus.

  • Mycroft always gets what he wants and so he sets out to very skillfully court and eventually propose to Greg Lestrade.

  • Mycroft gets married to Greg to extend his protective detail to him, since he has a lot to do with Sherlock and him and that might put him on the radar. Greg, still disillusioned from his recent divorce, agrees, thinking he’ll never get married again for real, anyway. Besides, it might be nice to at least get to pretend to be Mycroft’s husband sometimes, since he has that crush... which is a lot more mutual than he thinks.

  • On the other hand, perhaps they get married but have to do it secretly because they don’t want to draw down trouble on Greg. Mycroft knows Greg would probably like a traditional, more public wedding, so how does he try to make it up to him? And how does Greg show he’s really just happy to be married to Mycroft at all?

  • How annoyed is Sherlock that he didn’t figure out Greg and Mycroft were married when they finally tell him? How surprised are the rest of their friends? And what does Greg tell his colleagues at the police station about this ‘minor government official’?

  • I would love the wedding night! It’s probably not the first time they sleep together, but Greg would probably still find it really meaningful. Does Mycroft indulge Greg for his sake, or is he perhaps only pretending to be intellectually above such things while being touched himself? Side-note, I prefer bottom Greg.

  • Can Mycroft manage to free a few days to go on honeymoon?

Genji Shimada/Zenyatta Thekharta
This pairing is one of my constant favourites. Genji and Zenyatta just seem so familiar and comfortable with each other in the game, but there’s also this whole host of history that is only hinted at there with how Genji came to Zenyatta torn up about his past and not at peace with himself. I would love to read everything, from AUs where they met in completely different ways (perhaps based on their skins? That’s always fun), to a marriage at the Shambali temple, to established relationship fic of them travelling the world and deciding to get married after a time.
  • Genji would like to propose to Zenyatta, but even with all the work he has done to feel better about himself and with them being in a relationship, he’s not sure if Zenyatta even wants to marry someone as complicated and hurt as him. However, he ends up blurting out a proposal, anyway – maybe after a dangerous mission in front of the whole Overwatch team, or in a quiet, beautiful moment just between them.

  • Genji or Zenyatta decides to formally court the other. Perhaps there are specific things omnics do that Zenyatta could do to win Genji’s hand, or Genji tries to win Zenyatta over with things specific to Japanese culture.

  • Zenyatta can only travel certain countries safely or even have rights there if he’s married to a human. Genji may be pretty mechanical himself, but his passport still says that he is indeed human, so he decides to marry Zenyatta to keep him safe, since he doesn’t expect to get married otherwise, anyway. Of course, he has been pining after his master for a long while and through this marriage he might find out how mutual the feelings are...

  • Genji and Zenyatta know they will have to part for a while since Genji still has unfinished business in Japan he wants to take care of alone, so to underline their commitment and connection, they decide to get married.

  • I would love to see a wedding that takes place at the Shambali monastery. Maybe Mondatta married them. What do Shambali weddings look like, anyway? Do they mix it with Japanese or Shinto aspects or did Genji want a wedding strictly according to his new philosophy?

  • Conversely, a wedding that the newly assembled Overwatch team throws them when they hear about the proposal. It’s probably very makeshift, but it’s fun anyway. Also, maybe Talon crashes it, but, you know, it happens.

  • Genji and Zenyatta have been married since before Zenyatta left the monastery. The Overwatch team is pretty baffled to meet Genji’s husband, whom he kept a secret for a while until he was sure he could trust all his returned teammates.

  • Show me the wedding night! It’s probably not the first time they sleep together, but I’m sure it’s very meaningful to both of them. For smut, I prefer Zenyatta on bottom, if they even do anything that requires top or bottom because I imagine robot/cyborg bodies may have entirely inhuman ways to connect (literally via USB port? In the Iris?). While I do like human-ish genitalia for Zenyatta (intersex, female or male, or something that has similar functions but looks a bit different, maybe like simple sex toys, considering his built is so basic), I also really enjoy that Zenyatta is such a standard model with wires showing and made of probably (or not?) unfeeling, scratched-up metal in many parts. So wire play and all that could be really fun! Or maybe he doesn’t even have any sexual organs or software capability to experience sexual pleasure and gets them installed for the wedding night? Or he has them and hasn’t used them much? But Genji used to be a player, I bet he has a few tricks up his sleeve... Also, using sex to make Genji feel good about his body is always great, too.

  • Where do they go on their honeymoon and do they get to spend it undisturbed or is there work for them to do?
