Canon Ball 2019
Aug. 11th, 2019 08:50 pm Dear Canon Ball Writer,
I'm
greygerbil on AO3, thank you for writing for me! Right from the start, I want to say you don’t have to do anything with my prompts, they’re just there in case you want some ideas. If it has my pairing and avoids my DNWs, I’m sure I’ll enjoy it! I included a list of my general likes and smut likes which apply to all my requests. When it comes to kinks, you can include anything not listed under my DNWs; point to this part of the letter if someone asked if I opted in, I like a lot of stuff.
Fic where the couple is not yet together but clearly in love, or on the road to getting together, or having their first time kissing/in bed together are great. However, so are established relationship fics. Whatever suits your ideas!
Some prompts may read like ideas for longer fics, but if you’re interested in them, please just grab a scene with the general idea out of the middle of those hypothetical longfics and write me that! I love fic of all length and don’t want anyone to feel like they have to go above the minimum word count. I just get excited writing prompts sometimes, heh.
I generally have no problem with gore, blood, and graphic violence, but they’re not a necessity, of course, and neither is explicit porn. I like all ratings from G to E.

I have very few real prefrences for characters, except that I’d be happy if the men in the pairings were at least 25 years old or older (no limit at all in that direction!) because I enjoy characters who have had some time to gather life experiences. Physically, I mostly like male characters who aren’t super dainty, but anything from skinny to average to chubby to bodybuilder goes. Also, exceptions of course can be made for certain prompts or species – an elf is probably not going to look like Conan the Barbarian, heh.
Feel free to change the characters around to fit your setting and plot ideas. You can interpret my requested kings as chieftains or pharaos, my knights as warriors, my priests as druids, etc., whatever somewhat equivalent role they would have in a different cultural setting. Also, this noble man could be a humanoid alien, that bodyguard an android, this king an elf and his knight a half-giant and his advisor an orc, and so on. If you do go with aliens, fantasy creatures and androids for the requested pairings, I prefer the ones that look at least vaguely human-ish and also have comparable private parts. Tentacles are always appreciated, though, haha. If you’re unsure and want an example of what’s not too out there with hot aliens/fantasy creatures for me, the Mass Effect: Andromeda squad works (I’m not requesting these aliens, just saying that anything with this level of alien-ness would be totally fine).
I enjoy a/b/o, so you can add that to prompts if you like. I actually quite like omegas who are physically stronger than their alphas, but it’s not a must!
I’m into kidfic, mpreg and adoption stories, so if you want any of the requested couples planning a family, go right ahead, even if it’s not inherent in the prompt.
For historical fiction or fantasy settings, feel free to make up any number of countries for any time period or location in the world, use actually existing ones, or rewrite them to fit your needs (mpreg exists, homophobia doesn’t exist, gender equality was achieved 3000 B.C., and so on), or just divorce it from our world entirely. I like high and low fantasy and everything in-between, Tolkien-esque fantasy or fantasy based in completely different mythologies and traditions. For historical or pseudo-historical fantasy settings, I’m especially into Ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome, Celtic Ireland, the European Middle Ages, the Italian Renaissance, general Age-of-Sail type stuff, Regency and Victorian England, Feudal Japan, and the Classic Period Maya. But seriously, if there’s something else you like or know about, go for it, even (or especially!) if it’s maybe not something one sees often as settings for tropey slash.
For Science Fiction, I basically love all types. I enjoy the sleek, 1950s inspired looks of gleaming white Utopias (with or without adjacent seedy underbelly), cyberpunk ruled by evil megacorporations full of androids and hackers and augmentations, steampunk with air ships that sail the whole universe or the more grungy variation that is all about cranking the dirt and squalor of 19th century industrialisation up, hard-boiled military SF, or even comparatively mild “we invented space travel/aliens uplifted us and now we’re part of the interstellar alien community” stuff. You can also mix fantasy and science fiction, with magic spaceships and kings that lead galactic federations and such. I also enjoy Fallout-style post-apocalyptic wastelands, but I’d prefer some first tendrils of society to have already emerged again, should you go past the end times.
And then of course there’s the good old everyday world. I have to admit I’m not super interested in mundane modern stuff, but if you’re going into the criminal underworld or somesuch setting, that’s always fun. I also like urban fantasy with magic and werewolves and vampires, or “our world, but dwarves and elves and orcs exist and work alongside you at the office” or something along those lines.

*I don’t at all need meticulously researched Ancient Rome here, though if you’re up for that, it’s of course great! But generally, the wikipedia version will totally suffice, and it doesn’t have to fit the real timeline of ancient Rome at all. You can also set it in an alternative world with magic powers or physically existing Roman gods or nymphs and satyrs all up in the place and such things, which I’m sure would have changed some social dynamics.

Alien/Paid Human Surrogate for its Eggs (M/M)
- Why did the alien not find a partner of their own species to carry their eggs? Do these aliens need other-species hosts or are humans maybe like uniquely perfect by some biological coincidence to carry healthy eggs for that alien species? Or did he just go looking for a host at random and any living organism will do? Mayne he is disappointed in love and thinks this is the only way he’ll have kids, anyway?
- Is the human experienced in the business of carrying eggs or a first timer? What brought him to this “profession”?
- Are the human and alien friends and the alien offers him this job since he knows the human is strapped for cash or maybe because he’s the only one he’d trust with his eggs?
- Maybe the human is someone who seems unlikely to end up in this position, like a tough-as-nails merc or something, but he got in with some bad people and now has to find a way to pay back debts quickly? Hell, maybe for a Criminal AU sort of tone, perhaps the alien is one of those bad people and offers him a choice between this “job” and working off his debts for several years in a more traditional fashion (though no noncon, please, the merc should have agreed to it).
- Conversely, maybe this all happens on some idyllic backwater farming planet where the alien and the human keep fat wooly space sheep on adjacent fields or something and it’s the fluffiest eggpregg story ever.
- How does the pregnancy go? How long does it take? Are there any complications? Is the human too big to walk by the end and does the alien help out?
- Generally, I would love it if over the course of the pregnancy the alien and human would start getting closer and maybe even fall in love.
Playboy Alien Prince/His Human Bodyguard desperately trying to hide his feelings (M/M)
- What is the prince a prince of? One planet, or maybe like a whole galactic conglomerate? Maybe he’s a prince more in the colloquial sense (like a merchant prince, or a crime family’s heir), but still with pretty much endless amounts of power and wealth? Is he a rather useless playboy his parents despair over, or does he actually have a lot more sense than people think when they first meet him?
- How did he end up with a human bodyguard? Is it the sort of science fiction where species have already intermingled so much it’s not remarkable, or is his human bodyguard basically almost an eccentric pet? Did his parents maybe force the bodyguard on the prince to at least make sure he doesn’t get mugged or killed falling from one club into the other?
- And on the other hand, how did the human bodyguard end up with him? Was he always personal security or has he maybe been a soldier, saw combat and other hardships the playboy prince hasn’t had to deal with? Did he volunteer or was he drafted into this by the prince or his powerful family?
- The playboy prince will obviously have a lot of experience between the sheets and in various other locations, but what about the bodyguard? Has he ever slept with a man, or that sort of alien?
- What is their relationship? Are the two of them playfully antagonistic, does the guard roll his eyes at the prince’s antics, does the prince think he’s a hardass? Or are they perhaps even friends, which makes it even more difficult for the bodyguard to keep up his pretend-indifference?
- Is the playboy prince aware of his bodyguard’s feelings for him and trying to provoke him into a confession or reaction with very obvious escapades? Does he succeed? Or does the bodyguard attempt to quit his job and that forces a confrontation?
- Maybe the bodyguard is really good at hiding his feelings, so the prince never guessed them until the bodyguard confesses for some reason or someone points it out.
- Since this does have a bodyguard in it, emotionally fraught scenes of the bodyguard almost bleeding out or whatever after saving his charge are of course always welcome (or even just nursing a particularly bad split lip after ending a brawl at a bar that the prince started).
- What special alien features does the prince have which he might use to completely take his bodyguard apart (and which the bodyguard may or may not have fantasised about)?
Human Spaceship Captain/Alien Second-In-Command (M/M)
- How did these two end up on the same ship? Is it a military vessel? A pirate ship? A bounty hunter? Maybe even something like a courier, public transport, merchantman or a mining vessel (which, depending on where they fly, could also be pretty exciting)?
- Is it normal for humans and aliens to work together as they do or are relations between species still new/fraught? Is the alien second-in-command the only alien on the ship, or is the human maybe the only human?
- Are they wary of each other or a loyal, inseparable team? Or have they transformed/do they transform from the former to the latter? Or maybe the story is about them already being colleagues and lovers who have been together forever and one of them deciding to propose after like a decade.
- If it’s a military, company, or other type of official vessel, I guess they wouldn’t have had much of a choice about being stationed together. What is their experience like? Are they already a well-known power couple picked for the most dangerous political envoys or strike missions? Have they only just met and started getting to know each other, maybe run into cultural differences? Did they maybe fraternise the first night after meeting because the sexual tension was just undeniable?
- If the vessel belongs to the captain, they probably chose each other. How did that happen? How did they meet? Were they both experienced and skilled people with reputations and chose to work together because of that? Maybe they were sleeping together first? As criminals, maybe they were on the run from the same guys and then stole a ship when they had to skip town, so it just kinda happened? Or are they old childhood friends from some colony? Anything works!
- Maybe “I just want to try out sleeping with a human/alien once and there is one I like right here, let’s have a go and see if it works” accidentally turns into something more serious.
- What adventures do they get up to on the spaceship?
Humans and Androids
Couples: Male Accountant Android Who Is Property/Male Human Working At The Same Company As Security (M/M), Powerful But Lonely Businessman/His Competent Android Personal Assistant (M/M)
Freeforms: Action/Adventure, Character Development, Drama, Angst, Fluff, Getting Together, Established Relationship, Hurt/Comfort, Slice of Life, Smut, Setting: Cyberpunk, Setting: Noir, Setting: Near-Future Science Fiction, Setting: Post-Apocalypse, Setting: Science Fiction, Setting: Science Fantasy, Setting: Space Opera, Setting: Steampunk, Setting: Urban Fantasy

Male Accountant Android Who Is Property/Male Human Working At The Same Company As Security (M/M)
- If a company owns a whole robot for accounting and has a security guard, it’s probably rather big. How did these two meet? At a company function? Just in the hallway? Maybe the android is just in the building all the time, since he belongs to the company, and the security guard likes to hang around on slow night shifts?
- Is the security guard kind of freaked out by his attraction to the android at first, given that if they’re property they’re probably considered things rather than people, or does he handle it well? Is the android fine with the fact that he likes the security guard or does he have a whole What Is Love To A Machine dilemma?
- Maybe the security guard is in a tight spot finanically and the accountant android helps him figure it out, since he’s built for that sort of stuff. He could make him a plan – or maybe even syphon out of the company funds?
- Someone tries to steal the android for all the company information in his head and the security guard saves him.
- Does the accountant android even have the proper software/hardware for sex installed, or does he maybe find a way to secretly acquire them to surprise his boyfriend? And what do they get up to in the meantime? Maybe wireplay and handjobs?
- If he had the parts installed from factory settings, maybe they just experiment at the start, when they’re alone and sort of attracted to each other, and then later start falling in love?
- Does the guard eventually spring the accountant android and run away with him?
Powerful But Lonely Businessman/His Competent Android Personal Assistant (M/M)
- What sort of businessman is the businessman? Is he a conscious man who tries his best to be fair and thus works a lot harder, leaving him even less time for a private life? Is he a complete amoral capitalist with all the combined power of Nestlé and Disney who thinks he doesn’t like people enough to actually be around them? Something inbetween? Or is he perhaps the leader of a criminal empire? And how did he come to be this way?
- Is the PA android property or is he just a regular employee who happens to be an android? How did he end up with the businessman?
- How long has the android been with the businessman? Was he a recent edition or has he helped him along on his rise to fame and fortune?
- Does the businessman feel shame about his attraction to his PA? After all, it’s not really the android’s choice to be friendly and always close, that’s just in the job description. But maybe he likes the businessman, too...
- Maybe the two of them, neither being a fighter, get taken hostage or threatened, since the businessman has a lot of money. Can they think of a clever way to save themselves?
- Or it’s only the PA who gets taken, but manages to escape. As the businessman finds him back at home/at the office all scratched up and dented, it becomes very difficult to deny his feelings.
- The businessman and the PA being competent about business together and proving their acumen against opponents and maybe kissing.
- The businessman taking the PA out on a fancy date.
- The PA and businessman begin a relationship, but the PA android wasn’t built to engage in sexual activity, so he doesn’t have the software/hardware yet. Do they pick out some high-end stuff together, or does the PA surprise the businessman with some newly installed things?
- The PA has the appropriate parts and functions to help his boss ‘relax’, which he offers (would prefer if he was not property for this scenario, so he offers sex out of his own free will, even if the original programming was mabye meant to be exploited with or without his consent). This sensible arrangement accidentally turns into a relationship.
Humans and Mermen
Couples: Lighthousekeeper/Merman who saves his life (M/M) + Lighthousekeeper/Merman whose life he saves (M/M), Older Merman/Pirate/Younger Merman (M/M/M), Newly Crowned Merfolk King/Reluctant Arranged Human Husband to Cement Treaty (M/M)
Freeforms: Action/Adventure, Character Development, Drama, Angst, Fluff, Getting Together, Established Relationship, Hurt/Comfort, Slice of Life, Smut, Setting: Fantasy, Setting: High Fantasy, Setting: Science Fantasy, Setting: Space Opera, Setting: Steampunk, Setting: Historical, Setting: Urban Fantasy
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply, Graphic Depictions of Violence
*I'm happy with all sorts of mermen! Are they pretty classical mermaids with shells in their long hair and colourful tails? Or are they dangerous creatures looking like sharks and such? 8-foot-tall whale-men? Maybe octopi (all those handy tentacles!)? Whatever you want, really.
Lighthousekeeper/Merman who saves his life (M/M), Lighthousekeeper/Merman whose life he saves (M/M)
- I admit I love the whole classical aesthetic that could go with these prompts, stormy grey beaches and the wind blowing in the old lighthouse and a lonely keeper wandering the rocky coast, all that stuff. If any of that makes it into the story, I’d be thrilled. However, I’d also be interested to hear about a lighthouse on a warmer coast, maybe in the Carribean, Africa, or Greece (or fantasy countries not inspired by the European aesthetic in general).
- Did the merman get hurt by humans, maybe hunted for his pretty fins or accidentally caught by fishermen, or was he left stranded on a sunny day by a huge wave? Or was it other merpeople who hurt him?
- What happened to the lighthousekeeper if he’s the one saved? He is probably quite a good swimmer and seafarer, but maybe a storm toppled his boat or something? Maybe someone actually tried to kill him and drop the body into the sea?
- Is the lighthousekeeper a loner and only slowly starts to warm up to the merman? Or is he smitten immediately?
- Do humans and merpeople know of each other’s existence and interact frequently – maybe the lighthousekeeper has to deal with the merman’s whole family and friends? Or do merpeople not usually reveal themselves to humans and are myths, or at the very least known to be very reclusive?
- What did the love confession between these two look like?
- They probably can only have sex in the water or at the beach. How does that work for them? Would love something sweet and smutty here. Or maybe the merman playfully drags the keeper off his boat at some point to pretend-ravish him like the dangerous sea creature he is (maybe there’s legends about merpeople doing that sort of thing).
- I’d love a story about the merman and the lighthousekeeper deep into an established friendship or even relationship, too. What are the little things they do for each other? Maybe the keeper brings the merman some human food he likes whenever he can. Maybe the merman drives the cute seals to the shore for the lighthousekeeper to watch.
- The merman and the lighthousekeeper work together saving humans/boats who are lost or shipwrecked out on the sea close to the lighthouse (if merpeople aren’t known, the keeper later tells the rescued humans they must have imagined that fish-tailed man they figured they saw).
Older Merman/Pirate/Younger Merman (M/M/M)
- For all prompts, I’d prefer if the younger merman was also at least 25ish.
- What personalities do they have? Is the pirate a cynical criminal or an honourable thief with an agenda? Is the older merman calmer and wiser and the younger one more enthusiastic and careless? Is one of them more cautious of the pirate (or humans in general) than the other?
- The pirate is thrown overboard or had to flee into the sea to avoid capture. The mermen save him and bring him to a spot where he can recuperate and they can still access him, maybe like a seaside cave or something. He befriends them and that turns into more.
- The mermen bring the pirate some famed treasure from the ocean grounds. As their price, they want to sleep with him because merfolk don’t usually deal with humans and they’re interested. The pirate is just as curious as they are.
- The pirate meets and flirts with both of them on his journeys. They team up on him eventually. The pirate is not sad about it.
- The pirate and the two mermen are in a threeway relationship. Whenever he has a chance, he’ll slip into the water and go meet them and he never likes to move too far inland or out of the way because he can see them at the coast. Some scene between them there would be cute. Also, pirates do sometimes have to move to escape hunters. Reunion after he returns after some absence, or his lovers unexpectedly visiting him somewhere far away from where he expected them would be great.
- Maybe there is a spell the merfolk have that allows humans to breathe underwater for a while. The mermen take the pirate to explore their underwater city after they’ve decided they trust him enough.
Newly Crowned Merfolk King/Reluctant Arranged Human Husband to Cement Treaty (M/M)
- How did a merfolk king and a human husband end up with a treaty to direct their marriage? Was there war?
- It’s interesting the prompt doesn’t specify a rank for the human. Ordinarily, he’d probably be a prince or at least high-ranking lord and I’d love that. But maybe the merfolk have other traditions? Perhaps they marry their royals only to priests/priestresses or choose a random commoner for some symbolic reason. That, or there was some conflict in which the human garnered the king’s attention.
- Why is the human reluctant? Where the merfolk and the humans at war? Has he had bad experiences with merfolk? Is he not quite sure the spell that will allow him to live underwater is actually going to keep him from drowning?
- How is the wedding night? Awkward, skipped entirely, promising, surprisingly good, mindblowing despite all reservations?
- How is that marriage handled, anyway? Is there a spell that allows the human to go underwater? Can merfolk shift into human form for a while? Do they just have a palace that’s half on land, half under water?
- Would love to see them navigating their marriage and new status in life and perhaps slowly finding to each other as they do.
- Mpreg might add another fraught dimension to the arranged marriage. Maybe that’s what the human is worried about, lol, that mermen can get their male partners pregnant.

Elf Alpha/Dwarf Omega (M/M)
- For this, I’d love for the usual species stereotypes to still be there and for the elf and the dwarf to embody some of them: ephemeral beauty, grace, affinity for lore and song, etc. for the elf; coarse, barrel-chested, bearded, and muscular, with mechanical or fighting talent etc. for the dwarf.
- Have the elf and the dwarf perhaps always known each other? The elf could be a noble and the dwarf the smith’s son/later smith himself who grew up in elven territory or always visited with his father/mother to show their wares. Or perhaps the dwarf is a mercenary hired by the travelling elf for protection? He could also only just have moved close to the elf’s city/village/forest dwelling place and the local elves are all quite intrigued with the newcomer (though of course none would ever think about lying with a short, sturdy, hairy dwarf omega... well, none but one). Or is the elf perhaps an ambassador to a dwarven court and the dwarf owns a tavern where the nobles like to drink or is one of the royal guards? Or could they even both be princes?
- I’m sure there’s some cultural differences between elves and dwarves, concerning, well, everything, but also the A/B/O matters. How do they navigate them? Are they very interested, do they tease each other, do they try out all their differing customs?
- Differing court ship rituals! Either as a source of romance or as a source of (hopefully eventually resolved) confusion. Something like that the elf might recognise that a pretty brooch handed to him is a hopeful gift, but perhaps the dwarf does not quite grasp why he now constantly finds a single white flower placed on his anvil/machine room panel.
- Maybe these two are married to each other for diplomatic purposes. How do they get used to each other? How does the wedding night go?
- Perhaps these two meet not at home, but in a war setting. The elf could be an archer or a bard (hey, D&D says they can go on the battlefield, too…) and the dwarf is a warrior or a smith following the army. Are they quick to grow friendly with each other or are they competitive?
- Maybe the elf comes from a very reclusive group who has never seen much of dwarves and vice versa; or dwarves have just recently left their underground homes to explore topside for the first time. Is it perhaps not the way of elven omegas to fight and the elf is quite shocked (and intrigued) to find out about the dwarf’s nature?
Omega Tall Muscular Warrior/Alpha Short Thin Scholar (M/M)
- Who is the warrior? Is it normal for him to be on the battlefield as an omega, or is maybe normal for his people (in case he’s from a very different culture, or not human at all, but a half-giant, orc, whatever), but not for people in that area? Why did he chose this career path? Was he born into a knight/warrior family of some type or did he strike out on his own?
- Same about the scholar: was he expected to be a knight, perhaps by virtue of status, but never managed to be anything but useless on the training grounds? Or was his career path always set? And what sort of scholar is he? A noble man idly following his own pursuits, or a normal dude just trying to make ends meet working at a university or something? Maybe he’s even a mage researching magic or something else more arcane like that?
- I do love me some class differences, so a noble scholar and lowborn guard, or a warrior prince and library keeper would be fun.
- Maybe the warrior and scholar are good friends who like teasing each other as friends do – the warrior telling the scholar he needs to research an omega small enough for him, the scholar saying the warrior will accidentally sit on his alpha in full armour at some point, stuff like that. They don’t mean it and they know they don’t mean it, but it still leaves them thinking the other finds the idea of dating them faintly ridiculous. Unnecessary pining (and hopefully an eventual resolution) ensues.
- The scholar is taken ransom or mugged or something and saved by the warrior. It’s instant attraction between the two of them (or the catalyst they needed to finally realise what they mean to each other).
- The scholar and warrior work in close proximity to each other and bicker all the time, but there’s a lot of UST behind all that.
- Smut it always great! Whether it’s them exploring each other for the first time or being already used to each other. Some people probably doubt the scholar can properly satisfy his omega during the heat (and maybe the scholar wondered at the start, too), but they couldn’t be more wrong.
Royals and Nobles and their Consorts
Couples: Lowborn Male General/Warrior Prince (M/M), Sensible King/Arrogant General of Foreign Country Who's Very Good in Bed (M/M), Noble With An Upstanding Reputation/Noble Known For His Degeneracy (M/M)
Freeforms: Action/Adventure, Character Development, Drama, Angst, Fluff, Getting Together, Established Relationship, Hurt/Comfort, Slice of Life, Smut, Setting: Fantasy, Setting: High Fantasy, Setting: Science Fantasy, Setting: Space Opera, Setting: Cyberpunk, Setting: Steampunk, Setting: Science Fiction, Setting: Historical, Setting: Regency, Setting: Urban Fantasy
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply, Graphic Depictions of Violence
Lowborn Male General/Warrior Prince (M/M)
- Is there an age difference between these two? If the general is lowborn, he probably needed some time to claw his way up the ranks and the prince isn’t a king yet. Or is the prince a younger brother of the king who is always just going to carry that title and they’ve fought together for decades?
- If the prince is younger, perhaps the general helped him find his feet in his first real battles and what was once a youthful infatuation has now turned into something more enduring and real as the prince grew older. The general, meanwhile, is now starting to really take him serious as an equal. Romance ensues.
- Maybe the general isn’t originally from the prince’s place of origin, but they meet through a treaty or truce after having clashed in battle before. Was there UST they need to resolve, or have they already grown to appreciate each other as opponents on a deeper level, even?
- Perhaps the prince feels a certain competitiveness towards the general? It could be the general is pitted against him in public opinion, saying that he should have been the one with blue blood instead. Annoyingly, the prince also can’t deny that the general is pretty great...
- Sparring turns sexy is always a good trope.
- Fighting together! Planning battle strategies! Saving each other in the last moment!
- Does the prince eventually insist on marrying the general out of love, no matter what scandal that might create?
- Maybe the general pulls of some monumental feat and as a reward is given the prince’s hand in marriage. How do they navigate the marriage? Is the general worried that the prince might feel like he was sold under value, so to say? Is the prince secretly already head over heels?
Sensible King/Arrogant General of Foreign Country Who's Very Good in Bed (M/M)
- I mean, the imperative prompt here is probably smut. Hard-working king visits other country, gets shown a really good time by a cocky general, that’d be a great fic on its own, lol.
- Maybe the king and general ended up in bed on a diplomatic mission the king did, and while the king is quite mortified he let himself be tempted in such a way, he figured at least they probably won’t meet again and he can put that behind himself. Guess who leads the permanent diplomatic envoy to his court?
- The general doesn’t seem too sympathetic considering his arrogance, but maybe there’s more to him than the fact that he’s great in bed and the king starts finding out.
- The general has a problem: he’s kind of fallen for the king and he figures his best chance to wrap someone around his fingers is to sleep with them, as he’s so good in bed, but the king is too sensible to be seduced. How do they eventually get together?
- For all his arrogance, the general isn’t all that great in keeping people around for good, once they have gotten over how great he is in bed and are looking for more. Imagine his surprise when the king actually starts talking marriage.
Noble With An Upstanding Reputation/Noble Known For His Degeneracy (M/M)
- I guess the first question would be, do the two nobles live up to their reputations? Or is one less upstanding and the other less degenerate than first thought?
- Is there an opposites attract type of attraction between them, even though the upstanding noble pretends he thinks the other one is just unbearable and the degenerate noble claims the other guy is prudish and boring?
- I also like the idea that maybe the two nobles are good friends, despite everyone’s expectations and other people warning the upstanding noble that the degenerate one will ruin his reputation, too. In that case, why haven’t they come together yet? Maybe the upstanding noble thinks the degenerate one wouldn’t want the committed relationship he wants?
- I think a kinky relationship of any sort (maybe turning into more than sex) would be fun here. The one noble is thought of as so upstanding, but he goes to the other noble to let himself be tied up and whipped, for example. Maybe he’s afraid the other one will rat him out at some point, but actually, the degenerate noble quite likes him and sees no reason to embarrass him publically.
- The two of them have to work together to solve some problem, both bringing in their contacts and differing strengths in social situations.
- The upstanding noble’s reputation is threatened with false claims. To his great surprise, the degenerate noble steps forward to prove them wrong, even though it doesn’t put himself in the best light (you’d have to have been there to know someone wasn’t at Lady X’s orgy… for example, lol). This starts the upstanding noble investigating the supposedly degenerate’s nobles better traits, of which there are quite a lot.
Half-Dragon War Hero/Handsome Young King He Helped Gain the Throne (M/M)
- Since it's specifically a young king, I'd still love if he was at least 20 (or even a little older), but anything above 18 is totally fine.
- What does the half-dragon war hero look like? I'm happy with anything that could still conceivably fit into human-ish knight armour. Is he just a tall dude with funny eyes and pointed ears? Or is he a nine foot monstrosity with scales and a mouth full of dagger teeth and claws that double as weapons? Anything in between? Can he fly or shapeshift? How do people view him and dragons in general, whatever he looks like? With respect and love, perhaps religious devotion, or even some fear, despite his hero status?
- Why did the war hero decide to support the young king?
- Did the young king regain a throne that belonged to him by birthright which was stolen by a relative or advisor or somesuch? Was he in exile/fleeing long or only for a while? Or is he maybe a symbol against some former oppressive force on the throne who gathered traction and now carries the burden of having to live up to that ideal, though he may not be of royal or even noble birth?
- How did the half-dragon become a war hero? Was it in this fight for the throne or (maybe long) before that?
- Did they meet much or were even friends, or did the half-dragon maybe lead an independent force for the king somewhere at the other end of the country and they only now meet?
- Oh boy, an arranged marriage for alliance and strengthening the king's cause, since people love the war hero half-dragon? That sounds great! How do they navigate that?
- Always here for mpreg or perhaps also eggpregg in this case, since it does involve a dragon. Maybe they can have some quarter-dragon royal heirs!
Fathers and their Partners

Pining Pregnant King/His Arranged Marriage Husband Who Just Caught Feelings (M/M)
- Is the king pregnant by his husband as the result of what they probably considered marital duty? Or did he get pregnant by someone else – maybe for ritualistic reasons, like the firstborn always has to be conceived with a priest/god or whatever? Or maybe he is pregnant with a regular bastard, but the marriage had to proceed quickly, anyway, and so this awkward situation occurred.
- Even if it is his husband’s child, do they still sleep together? Or did they decide now that the duty to create an heir was fulfilled, they didn’t have to anymore? (Probably the king really wishes they did and his husband by this point wants it as well, but now it’s really awkward to adress and neither of them manages at first.)
- Why did it take the husband longer to warm up to the king? Was he skeptical about the marriage? Does the king have a reputation for lechery or ruthlessness or something, deserved or not? Did the king perhaps conquer the country his husband is from or defeat them in war, and offered the marriage as a last effort for them to hold on to some dignity? Is the husband maybe from a faraway land and first had to get his bearings in general before he could concentrate on the marriage?
- How do the king and his husband resolve the pining? Do they manage before their child is born or does it take them a while?
- What sort of people are the king and his husband, anyway? Do they at first think that they are incompatible by nature, but find out they compliment each other instead? Or are they more similar than they first guessed?
- I also always have a weakness for arranged marriages between two husbands who’ve spent considerable time of their lives fighting against each other. They might respect each other as opponents, but still, they probably have a dozen scars each that the other is responsible for, and now they have to figure out how to go from here to a proper marriage.
King Who Is A Single Father/His New Husband Who Also Is A Single Father (M/M)
- How did the king and the husband get to be fathers? Are they widowed? Are their divorced from their ex-wives (or husbands, in case of mpreg/adoption) ? Are the children legitimate or not? Did one of them get mpregnant at some point, or both? Are their children adopted? Maybe they never even had a former partner at all, but it fell to them to care for orphaned children from their family/circle of friends or they just adopted because they wanted to or needed an heir.
- Why did the king decide to marry someone who also had kids? Or was it a coincidence?
- Maybe the king and his new husband thought they were merely making a sensible decision, as their kids always got along, the new husband is a loyal lord/knight and would make an excellent stepfather, and so on. Maybe they’re both a little older, too, and consider themselves beyond silly crushes. However, they find themselves falling for each other hard during the marriage.
- Maybe they would like to add another child to the family, so they adopt one or, if one of them can get pregnant, try for that. Or they more or less accidentally adopt a child through some circumstance or have an oopsie mpreg baby even though they weren’t planning to have more kids.
- For mpreg, what if the new husband’s kid is actually the king’s bastard? I’d prefer if the king hadn’t cheated on his former spouse, if he even had one, but maybe it happened before or after. The new husband never wanted to make trouble for the king and figured he had no way to prove he’s the father, anyway. Besides, he might have been worried his kid could be drawn into succession politics. But when the king learns of his child, he decides to marry the father. Them finding back to each other would be cute.
- Perhaps the new husband is raising children with some degree of relation to the king or belonging to someone the king was very close to before they died. The king wanted to support the husband and his dead friend’s/relative’s kids with this marriage, since he didn’t plan to marry again, anyway. It was wholly a decision made out of reason... but now the two fall in love.
- What are they like, as people and as parents? Is the king maybe a rather strict father who feels he has to prepare his children for the vagaries of politics? Can his husband help him soften a bit? Or maybe the new husband is a stern knight who doesn't feel he can do much for his kids other than teach them to fight and the king shows him otherwise? Or any other issues or combinations, really! Also, how do the kids get along with their respective new stepdad and each other?
Widowed King With Children/Loyal General (M/M)
- What sort of person is the king? A warrior or a scholar? Noble and kind? Withdrawn since the death of his wife/husband? Stern and pretending to be unaffected?
- Is the general good with children or does he have to get used to his new position as step-dad? Is he a long-time friend of the king who they already know well?
- Was the general pining away all those years while the king was married/in mourning, if they already knew each other then? Or maybe they got closer as the king mourned and the general picked up some slack around the place where he could to help him? Or he’s only a recent addition to the court but was always a loyal general out in the field and now falls in love, too?
- Maybe the king has a son, or sons, or also daughter(s) in a more equal socity (or just because the king decides his daughters can/should also learn to fight despite of potential social issues) who train as knights under the general. Is that how the king gets to know him more closely, too? Or was he chosen for this task because of long loyalty but now the king and him actually get closer on a personal level?
- The king and him going to war together, strategising together, fighting together, the general saving the king (potentially while sustaining big wounds)...
- Since he already has an heir, does the king decide he’s allowed to follow his inclination and actually marry the general, or, if that’s not possible, at least basically make him his permanent consort, officially or not?
- Maybe they would like to add another child to the family, so they adopt one or, if one of them can get pregnant, try for that. Or they more or less accidentally adopt a child through some circumstance or have an oopsie mpreg baby even though they weren’t planning to have more kids.
Rich Widowed Lord With Children/New Servant Good With His Kids (M/M)
- Who is the lord? Did being widowed change him, cause him to withdraw more, or perhaps compound on an already melancholy nature? Or did he try to stay positive for the children? How did he get so rich? Is it old wealth or new? Did he gain it by trade, rich lands, or maybe even as a reward for being a successful knight/soldier or helpful advisor?
- Why does the new servant join the household? Was there just an opening and he needed money? Is there a reason he left his last master or the place he used to live? Is he a very obliging person or does he have a little cheek?
- Is the servant a rather high-ranked servant, or someone actually hired to watch the children, or just a stablehand or something who the kids take a liking to and who handles them well?
- What attracts the widower and the servant to each other aside from the fact that they both care about the children?
- Is there a reason the servant is good with kids? Many younger siblings? Or maybe he was a young father and already has a grown kid somewhere himself (or, more tragically, a dead child)? Or is it just his disposition?
- Maybe the servant really only started out bothering with the kids so much because he was hoping to get into the widower’s good graces, but then finds himself honestly caring about the family and in love with the father.
- Maybe they would like to add another child to the family, so they adopt one or, if one of them can get pregnant, try for that. Or they more or less accidentally adopt a child through some circumstance or have an oopsie mpreg baby even though they weren’t planning to have more kids.
Ancient Rome
Couples: Ancient Roman Senator/Ancient Roman Emperor (M/M), Ancient Roman Senator/Ancient Roman General (M/M)
Freeforms: Action/Adventure, Character Development, Drama, Angst, Fluff, Getting Together, Established Relationship, Hurt/Comfort, Slice of Life, Smut, Setting: Historical, Setting: Fantasy
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply, Graphic Depictions of Violence
*I don’t at all need meticulously researched Ancient Rome here, though if you’re up for that, it’s of course great! But generally, the wikipedia version will totally suffice, and it doesn’t have to fit the real timeline of ancient Rome at all. You can also set it in an alternative world with magic powers or physically existing Roman gods or nymphs and satyrs all up in the place and such things, which I’m sure would have changed some social dynamics.
Ancient Roman Senator/Ancient Roman Emperor (M/M)
- Ohhh, the relationship between the Roman emperor and the senate, that’s spice all the way up and down. I’m here for any permutation of it, providing there’s still a little bit of a happy end for them and they don’t end up killing each other… maybe one of them did try at some point, though. Can hardly not ever be involved in some plot or other if you’re that deep into Roman politics.
- Being an emperor was a fraught situation as times. How did the emperor become the emperor? Did he grasp at power through a coup (is he maybe even the emperor who toppled the Republic, Julius Caesar style, but wasn’t stabbed and thus emperor’d on)? Did he get adopted way into adulthood by a former emperor after proving himself worthy? In that case, he might actually be less well-born than the senator, providing he earned his accolades in the military. Or maybe this is an empire that was settled so far that he was just born into his rule?
- How about the senator? Did he go the traditional cursus honorum as a man of good birth, walking through the ranks until he’d reached the senate? Or is he someone not of befitting status by birth lifted by the emperor into the rank of senator? If it was the current emperor, that means they must really like each other already… if it was the one before that, they could probably hate each other as well. But it’s also possible he helped the new emperor reach his seat.
- I’d love all the political debates and strategising how to survive the Roman political circus, together or (at times) against each other! Is the senator a staunt believer in the Republic but grudgingly acknowledges this one emperor is doing okay work, or does he fully back the emperor? Is the emperor happy to work with the senate or does he walk over them at every opportunity and basically just wants to be a tyrant instead of having to discuss everything with them?
- Is their first time a result of a long, steady friendship growing into more, a UST-clash after another heated debate in the senate, or some other variation?
- Even if they’re antagonistic, are they maybe a little grateful for each other because they know they keep each other honest and on track?
- Senator and emperor uniting against a common threat, in a military or political sense, would be great.
- One of them wants to kill the other. They have the perfect opportunity. Instead of grabbing the dagger/slipping the poison into the wine, they instead start a romance. They’ll totally do it eventually. Yeah. Eventually. And if they happen to dismantle the rest of the conspiracy, it’s just so no one can rat them out. And… does the other ever find out? Does it cause a fight or did they maybe know for a long time? I’d love for them to still be together by the end.
- If it’s possible, do they marry eventually? Is it a love marriage? Or maybe the emperor ostensibly does it to corral the senator, but they both know it’s more than that.
Ancient Roman Senator/Ancient Roman General (M/M)
- How do these two know each other? Did they grow up together but took different career paths? Is the senator from a good family while the general had to work his way up, or are they both nobles but had different inclinations?
- Do they like each other and/or tease each other about being just a brute/a paper pusher?
- Does the senator know the general from his time as quaestor during the cursus honorum? Did they have an affair that split when the senator returned to Rome when his year was up? Where they pining and are very glad to find each other again?
- Does the general have to come to Rome to help beat down some coup attempt by someone trying to seize power and save the senator in the process? Is that the moment the senator fell for him?
- The general is growing too powerful and a plot is set up against him. The senator works to uncover it and save him, which the general eventually learns about.
- The general is wounded grievously and brought back to Rome to recuperate. The senator cannot quite hide how damned worried he is nor stop fussing about the general.
- Reunion sex/general happiness after the general returns from a successful campaign.
- Crossover prompt: the general or the senator become the emperor, with support from the other one.
- Do they get married, if possible, and become a political power couple?
Regency
Couples: Bookish Regency Gentleman/His Charming Outgoing Male Friend Who's Refused Every Past Suitor (M/M), Regency Gentleman of Great Wealth/Friend He's Pining For in Dire Straits (M/M), Wealthy Regency Aristocrat/His Much Poorer Acquaintance (M/M)

Bookish Regency Gentleman/His Charming Outgoing Male Friend Who's Refused Every Past Suitor (M/M)
- Is the gentleman someone of modest means (for a gentleman, anyway, maybe someone who still has to work a profession) or someone with ample lands who has most of his time free to dedicate to books? Is he a personable man or does he like hiding behind his books and is only drawn out by his outgoing friend?
- Is his male friend a gentleman himself or someone of lower (or higher) status? Why does he have such a line of suitors? Is it all his charm, is he very good-looking, does he have riches that make him attractive on the marriage market? And why did he reject all of them... ?
- If the friend is in love with the gentleman, why hasn’t he made a move yet? Does he think his rank is too low? Did the gentleman perhaps claim he doesn’t wish to ever marry? Does the friend think the gentleman would prefer someone quieter and more learned?
- Conversely, why hasn’t the gentleman asked him? Does he think his rank is too low? Does he figure his friend is much too outgoing to wish to be chained to someone with such a different temperament? Or that there must be some underlying reason his friend has rejected all these people (missing that the reason is likely him)?
- Does the friend like books? Can the gentleman maybe convince him to listen to some if he reads them to him, in case he doesn’t?
- Does watching a very insistent suitor finally push the gentleman over the edge and into a confession to his friend (or directly into his bed)?
- What does the eventual proposal look like? Does the gentleman do it, or does the friend for once become the suitor?
Regency Gentleman of Great Wealth/Friend He's Pining For in Dire Straits (M/M)
- Is the gentleman a man from old money or did his family acquire their riches in trade and he only just rose into the landed gentry? What sort of personality does he have?
- Who is the friend? Was he once rich, too, but fell pray to misfortune or people who tricked him or his parents? Or was he always in a more difficult situation financially? Or maybe the dire straits don’t have anything to do with money? How do they know each other, anyway, and if they have a great difference in rank, how did their friendship come about?
- If the dire straits have to do with finances, why doesn’t the gentleman pay? Has he offered, but been rejected, as his friend is too proud or doesn’t want their friendship strained by such money issues? Does the friend eventually come into the awkward situation of having no other recourse but to ask for a loan, anyway?
- If it’s not money-related, maybe the gentleman can still help him out with connections and such?
- Why has the gentleman not asked the friend he’s pining for to marry him so far? Has he tried courting him? A fic about that would also be cute.
- Is the gentleman worried that after he has helped, the friend is only entertaining his romantic notions out of of gratitude? Is the friend worried it looks like he’s after the gentleman’s money? How can the friend convince him he’s here out of love?
- Special mpreg/kidfic request: dire straits mean the friend is pregnant/has kids (adopted or otherwise) and got ditched. In the pregnancy case, maybe it was just an affair (possibly to distract himself from the gentleman), or (for both cases) he was in an unhappy marriage and his husband decided to leave him. Now the gentleman comes and helps out and of course they fall in love if they haven’t already been.
Wealthy Regency Aristocrat/His Much Poorer Acquaintance (M/M)
- How do these two know each other? Is the acquaintance a servant or a small-time merchant or just someone who happens to live close to the aristocrat’s mansion doing some type of menial labour? Is he a noble from a long-bankrupt family? Maybe a country parson with a poor parish?
- How do the two get closer? Does one of them help the other out in some way? The acquaintance obviously has less material means to do so, but perhaps he saves the aristocrat from a threat or protects his reputation in some way.
- Do they have a sexual relationship before they have a real one? Perhaps the aristocrat is a sort of pre-modern sugar daddy for a man of somewhat ill repute and they both figure that’s all it’s ever going to be, but of course it’s not...
- I’d also love a story about the aristocrat and his acquaintance being friends and quietly pining away everytime they meet.
