Dear Holly Poly Writer,

I'm greygerbil on AO3, thank you for writing for me! Right from the start, I want to say you don’t have to do anything with my prompts, they’re just there in case you want some ideas. If it has my triad and avoids my DNWs, I’m sure I’ll enjoy it! All ratings are great. I included a list of my general likes and smut likes which apply to all my requests. When it comes to kinks, you can include anything not listed under my DNWs; point to this part of the letter if someone asked if I opted in, I like a lot of stuff.

I’m generally looking for something that ends in a closed relationship between all the requested characters, not a V-shape or open relationship, though it can certainly start out like that! Of course, it’s also fine if it’s just a snapshot of a poly relationship that’s simply implied to be closed and between all the characters, it doesn’t have to include someone explicitly laying down the rules of their arrangement or anything.

Feel free to entirely erase the existence of canon relationships or break them up if they get in the way of the pairings I requested, whichever works best with what you’re trying to do.

Fic where the three are not yet together but clearly in love, or on the road to getting together, or having their first time kissing/in bed together are great. However, so are established relationship fics. Whatever suits your ideas!

Some prompts may read like ideas for longer fics, but if you’re interested in them, please just grab a scene with the general idea out of the middle of those hypothetical longfics and write me that! I love fic of all length and don’t want anyone to feel like they have to go above the minimum word count. I just get excited writing prompts sometimes, heh.

Considering the number of canons I have where you slaughter your way through untold heaps of NPCs, I should also point out I generally have no problem with gore, blood, and graphic violence.

Alexios/Brasidas/Stentor
Alexios needs all the sexy Spartan men, and why not at once? I feel like this could be either a hot threesome, or, if you’re so inclined, a really interesting triad relationship (which would likely take a lot of scenes to set up, so feel free to just jump into the middle of it, or insinuate it might happen sometime in the future). Brasidas, being a popular Spartan general, would almost certainly have met the hand-picked adopted son of the Wolf before and they both have quite interesting relationships with Alexios.

• Brasidas, time-line wise, should be some years older than Stentor and Alexios. Perhaps Stentor had a crush on him when he was a young man in the agoge or when he was a young soldier. Now Alexios is with Brasidas and Stentor is just so unbelievably annoyed that Alexios doesn’t just steal his father and his house, but also the man he used to want (or still wants). And it certainly doesn’t help he’s secretly a bit interested in Alexios, too… Do the other two notice and invite him into their bed/relationship?


• Alexios is with Stentor/Brasidas, and Stentor/Brasidas at some point mentions that he used to have an affair/friends-with-benefits thing with Brasidas/Stentor. Now Alexios can’t stop thinking about it because he does kind of want both men. Or hell, perhaps Brasidas/Stentor mentions that they slept with the respective other at some point, and his boyfriend Alexios is like “hey, I did, too”, and they invite the missing third back into their bed, and then perhaps he gets tangled in the relationship as well.


• Alexios notices that Brasidas and Stentor seem kind of interested in each other and are flirting, but never seem to make the next step. Because Brasidas is his friend and Stentor definitely needs someone to remove the stick up his ass, Alexios decides to play matchmaker. However, in the process, he gets dragged into the relationship, too.


• Brasidas wants to make sure Stentor and Alexios get along, since he knows and likes both of them, perhaps by inviting them to a shared mission. This ends in a threesome.


• Alexios and Stentor are sleeping together and somehow both confess to each other that they used to like Brasidas (would also work with Alexios and Brasidas both being interested in Stentor). They decide to seduce him together.


• I could also see the three of them all getting closer on some mission simultaneously, though, with lots of three-way pining and crushing and guilty late-nigh fantasies.


• The three of them fighting together, hunting Cultists together, getting drunk at festivities, barely surviving a storm on the Adrestia or an attack on their lives (I figure each one of them has enough enemies at this point) – just everyday things that could happen to them being dealt with by this trio.


• Three-way sparring, whether it leads to smut or them just having fun together and getting to let go a bit with fighters of their own level without the threat of serious injury.


• The three of them defending a border or country/fighting a battle for Sparta together and all the planning and fighting together that comes with it.


• For smut, I prefer bottom Stentor and don't have a strong preference with the other two, but I imagine in this big Spartan pile-up, there'll be a lot of back and forth, anyway.

Dragon Age

Male Hawke/Male Inquisitor/Varric Tethras
I ship Varric both with Male Hawke and with the Male Inquisitor and I think the idea of two main characters from different stories together is always interesting because you’re so used to see both of them as the eye of their respective hurricane. Hawke can be any personality and class, same for the Inquisitor. I also like all species and specialisations for the Inquisitor, though because I love size differences so much I of course am slightly biased in favour of qunari and dwarves, but that’s really just a suggestion in case you can’t decide. I also enjoy the idea of dainty warrior elves swinging huge broadswords or tanking.

• Hawke hears about the Temple of Sacred Ashes, but can’t get confirmation that Varric survived. Obviously, he treks there and finds him alongside a very intriguing man with a glowing hand.


• Hawke decides to stay with the Inquisition instead of travelling to Weisshaupt (maybe both he and whichever Warden is with them survived the Fade, so the Wardens can handle themselves; or he just thinks the Inquisition is more important at the moment).


• After Trespasser, the Inquisitor joins his boyfriends Hawke and Varric in Kirkwall – he has the key to the city now, after all, and a mansion of his own –, happy to finally have their long-distance relationship end. (Or, Hawke stayed with the Inquisitor or went to Weisshaupt and they both join Varric.)


• Or perhaps their relationships starts developing after the Inquisitor moves to Kirkwall.


• The Inquisitor thinks it’s clear as day that Varric and Hawke are in love. He might be a bit jealous, but Varric has been a good friend to him and Hawke seems like a great guy. However, his matchmaking backfires and he gets involved, too.


• Varric considers that it’d be a great romance to write about, Hawke and the Inquisitor – and he wants them both to be happy, too, since he likes them. Though it’s sad to think he won’t get either of them, Varric knows from his experience with Bianca romance isn’t something he’s lucky at. Except, of course, he gets drawn into the mix during his attempts to make Hawke and the Inquisitor get together.


• Hawke thinks Varric seems very attached to this Inquisitor. He wanted to be the hero Varric falls for, but he likes Varric too much to not push him to give love another try and the Inquisitor seems very deserving. But Varric and the Inquisitor like Hawke as more than a wingman.


• I also like the idea of any pair of them staring out as FWB – while secretly pining for each other, of course – and the third person shaking up the dynamic and turning it into a triad relationship.


• I’d also be here for an AU where the Inquisitor is a companion in Herald Hawke’s or Herald Varric’s team who was lucky enough to survive the Temple.


• Just slice-of-life with these three could be fun. They’re almost a full Dragon Age-sized team, so they could go on a mission together or hold their own at some formal Inquisition function. Perhaps they also get a moment to relax during their busy lives. The aftermath of the Inquisitor losing his arm would also be interesting.


• Smut is always great, of course. I prefer bottom Varric, no preference for the other too.

Male Inquisitor/Dorian Pavus/Felix Alexius
I really enjoy the idea of this threesome. Felix was a very interesting character – uncommonly calm despite his fate, kind, obviously highly regarded by Dorian and a good friend of his. The romance between the Inquisitor and Dorian is one I like a lot, too. Adding Felix to them really would be a lot of fun. The Inquisitor can be any personality, class, species and specialisations, though because I love size differences so much I of course am slightly biased in favour of qunari and dwarves, but that’s really just a suggestion in case you can’t decide. I also enjoy the idea of dainty warrior elves swinging huge broadswords or tanking. I’d really appreciate it if Felix did not die during the story or finished it still being on the path to certain imminent death – you can handwave a cure, or even make it a plot. He held out three (or six, conflicting dates on the wiki) years with the taint, obviously he’s pretty resilient.

• Felix and Dorian used to have a FWB(-but-maybe-actually-pining) thing, but stopped when Felix was infected (or perhaps it was serious, but Felix broke up with Dorian to spare him the tragedy of his boyfriend dying). Some time into Inquisition, a cured Felix returns as ambassador of Tevinter or in some other function, when Dorian and the Inquisitor have just started their relationship. Felix doesn’t want to ruin things for Dorian, but the old feelings are difficult to stifle for both of them; and the Inquisitor and Felix get on surprisingly well, too...


• Felix has always had a crush on Dorian, but never thought he had a chance with him. He encourages him to get with the Inquisitor because he wants Dorian to be happy. However, as Dorian’s friend they naturally start to hang out together and, well…


• Felix is given to the Wardens to survive, which of course places him right in the middle of the chaos as a new recruit. Dorian and the Inquisitor save him at Adamant Fortress (I figure being pretty attuned to the whole Tevinter cult thing might have saved him from getting caught up in it). It forges a bond between them that grows into more.


• The Inquisitor is a bit disappointed to learn that Dorian has a boyfriend, but of course happy that Dorian won’t lose him to the taint when Felix is cured. Dorian and Felix both learn to like the Inquisitor a lot, though, and perhaps eventually even decide to court him, or accidentally trip into it.


• Dorian confesses to the Inquisitor that he used to have a crush on Felix. The Inquisitor is the one to suggest that Dorian doesn’t have to choose (provided Felix wouldn’t mind getting with both of them).


• Show me a snapshot of their relationship! Just them hanging around Skyhold or, afterwards, when Dorian and Felix start their campaign for progressive Tevinter and the Inquisitor comes to visit or talks to them on the magic mobile phone. And how does Felix help the Inquisition and his boyfriends? His talents seem to be math and politics/people relations (Dorian said he somehow managed to call the senate to sit together almost immediately when it usually takes months), I guess? Can he make use of that? And what happens if he gets dropped into a combat mission with them?


• For smut, I prefer bottom Felix, no preferences with the other two.

Overwatch

Jesse McCree/Genji Shimada/Tekhartha Zenyatta
Genji met Jesse and Zenyatta both at a stage of his life where he was obviously quite dissatisfied with himself, and probably will meet Jesse once more when Overwatch starts to reassemble to face the forces of evil. Zenyatta and Jesse, in contrast to that, have never worked together – I don’t think they even have voiceline exchanges outside of the Halloween event –, but I feel like they’re both the type of person to easily get along with most. I always liked the potential interactions between these characters.

• Jesse meets up with Genji again and is shocked to see the transformation since the Blackwatch days. Obviously, he’s intrigued who could have helped Genji like this, and also by the new Genji himself.


• Maybe Jesse and Genji used to have A Thing way back when, though I doubt Blackwatch Genji was in the mindset for a real relationship, but that doesn’t meant they couldn’t have been in love. Now that Genji has mellowed he might be ready to try it, but now he also has Zenyatta… fortunately, Jesse likes both of them.


• Genji and Jesse reconnect when meeting again and begin a relationship. Zenyatta also has a crush on Genji and might be developing one on Jesse, but it’s something he doesn’t have much experience in and/or he feels they are good for each other, so no reason to cause disturbance. The other two eventually notice.


• Just a day in the life of this triad, being heroes or taking a well-deserved break together or perhaps even going on an actual date.


• AU where Zenyatta gets added to Blackwatch for some reason.


• Junkenstein’s Revenge AU! The Gunslinger, the Swordsman and the Monk get together. We got new interactions this Halloween, so now it almost starts to feel like its own little world.


• Generally, I love AUs that centre on the different skins. They all have quite a lot them, so go wild!


• Smut for this pairing is also very welcome. I prefer bottom Zenyatta, no preferences for the other two. How does sex work between them? With an omnic, a regular man with “only” a mechanical arm and a cyborg, they have everything between machine and human in there.


• Adjacent to the general smut prompt, maybe the three of them have been together a while, but Zenyatta kept mostly out of the intimate stuff because he wasn’t equipped with the right software/hardware. Then the chance to get modded that way presents itself and he takes it. I’m sure Jesse and Genji would be happy to show him the ropes.

Vampyr

Jonathan Reid/Geoffrey McCullum/Sean Hampton
This mess of a threesome is another favourite idea of mine. There’s just so much charge there: the anger Geoffrey must feel for Jonathan, particularly if he has made him an Ekon, his aggression towards vampires turning against Skal Sean, but his newfound knowledge also perhaps halting him and showing him that both Jonathan and Sean might be the kind of vampires who don’t deserve death and thus confusing him a lot in the process. Sean is likely still a bit resentful towards Jonathan, if his curt answer concerning an examination is anything to go by, and Geoffrey would probably scare or at least worry him, but I think Sean would also try to help Jonathan and Geoffrey both if he knew the extent of their tragedies. Finally, Jonathan sees the good in both these men, but also has to live with the things he’s done to them, and, considering how Geoffrey hunted him, is probably as angry at him as Geoffrey is at Jonathan.

• Jonathan is of course the logical connection point between them, so it might start out with him in a relationship/flirting with one of them first before the other joins. But perhaps Jonathan also takes a bit of a break from London after the game and finds his progeny have gotten to know each other in his absence.


• A story idea for established relationship could be the three of them getting locked in somewhere and fighting their way out – though Sean is not much of a fighter, but perhaps he can make a good blood bag for the other two to replenish after or during the battle? (Then again, we know he turns into a tough mini boss if you let him deteriorate, so perhaps there’s more to him in a fight than anyone expects.)


• Considering how long an examination of how they got together could go, I’d also be perfectly fine if you skipped to an established three-way relationship kind of deal, just showing how they deal with the world as a triad. How do they approach new threats in the city, how does Geoffrey keep his fellow guards from killing his boyfriends (and potentially himself), do Geoffrey and Sean help Jonathan at the hospital or with searching for a way to quell vampire hunger, and do Geoffrey and Jonathan make sure the shelter stays safe?


• I would also just like to see them hanging out, bickering, doing naughty things. These boys are busy, I’m sure they could all stand to relax together sometime. Just one or all of them reflecting on the relationship would be really interesting, too.


• If Geoffrey was not turned by Jonathan but by King Arthur’s blood, Arthur might come over to London to take a look at his newest progeny and in the process also meeting his younger brother Jonathan and Sean the weird Skal. Whether that is a good or bad thing remains to be seen, but it might bring the three closer together.


• Jump forward in time! I’d love to see their established relationship thirty, fifty, a hundred years down the road. How do they live? Or, perhaps they haven’t always been together, or maybe only two of them have been, but they meet again like eighty years later or something and all fall in love.


• Combatant or not, Geoffrey and Jonathan think Sean needs some self-defence lessons if he wants to stay alive and protect his immortal flock. They train vampire powers together and get closer over it. Also, Sean might be watching (perhaps with some trepidation – or even with some arousal, to his own surprise) how Geoffrey and Jonathan tear into each other training their powers together and provides them with blood to heal their wounds after.


• They also generally have a lot of enemies: the Ascalon Club could be going after Geoffrey for being a hunter or Jonathan for not heeding or become too interested in what a weird Skal type Sean is, other elder vampires might come back from the continent and bring their own entourage, there’s other hunter factions, too, some less respectful upstart gang or union member with his cronies around Sean’s territory could be trying to teach him a lesson... these three have their hands full.


• For smut, I would love to see them doing it in all sorts of constellations: in a pile all three on each other (all my brownie points of Sean being spitroasted), or with two of them performing for the third, or one of them performing for the two others while they touch each other. Perhaps Sean isn’t quite comfortable jumping right in with two men at first, so they ease him into it. Or Sean is a lot more ready to experiment than they expected and they have fun with that. Perhaps a little later into their relationship, the two of them are so busy bickering that Sean somehow ends up taking control at some point and makes them do what he wants to get this show on the road. I somewhat prefer bottom Sean. No preferences between the other two.

Yuri!!! on ICE

Christophe Giacometti/Victor Nikiforov/Georgi Popovich
This is a great High Chaos Energy triad. All three of them are so extra, but they all do it in their own ways. Also, for Christophe and Georgi, Victor is the one to chase, but Victor outruns them with ease, which creates an interesting relationship dynamic; and as we’ve seen, Georgi can be pretty good when he’s not allowing his skate to escape him and getting distracted, so Christophe and him have probably been in direct competition during their careers quite a few times, too. They all just had a lot of years to butt heads and of course to get to know each other.

• Chris and Victor have an on-again-off-again relationship that never seems to fully stick. Georgi, newly disappointed by the whole Anya situation, decides that if he can’t have love, he’ll try to patch up theirs at least because he does think they’re a cute couple. This inevitably leads to him getting dragged into the drama. But he could be the missing element they need to stabilise…


• For years, Georgi and Victor have been fooling around whenever both of them aren’t in a relationship. Chris, newly Victor’s or Georgi’s boyfriend, finds out about that. The other assures him it’s nothing to be worried about, but Chris isn’t convinced, considering it’s been going on for a decade – and also sort of intrigued.


• Georgi has had a crush on Victor forever, but it doesn’t seem like Victor has much time for anyone, much less his rinkmate who always falls short of his glorious successes. At some point, he confesses this to Chris (maybe while drunk or exhausted after a training camp day or something). Maybe Chris decides to play matchmaker and starts to stumble into their relationship in the process?


• Both Georgi and Chris have had a crush on Victor since forever and decide to work it out with each other instead, actually getting close in the process. Somehow Victor learns what’s going on and wonders why they couldn’t have started courting him instead? He would have been up for it… Maybe this can be rectified.


• Victor admits to Chris (who is his friend or FWB or maybe even adventurous boyfriend) that he had a crush on Georgi when he was younger, but feels Georgi didn’t like him because he was always compared to Victor, and also Georgi is probably straight. Chris says you never know until you’ve asked – or tried.


• I would guess Chris and Victor have experience with men, but maybe Georgi doesn’t. Does he believe that love will take care of all the possible hitches that could arise from this (especially in intimate matters), or is he nervous or eager to impress?


• A day in the life of those three in an established relationship would be really fun – whether it’s a high stress competition, a training day, or them having time for a rare holiday or date.


• I’m always here for smut, of course. I prefer bottom Georgi, no preference for the other two. I imagine with three guys who are this extra, they must get up to a lot of interesting stuff, but I would also be here for something fluffy and vanilla, or Georgi covering the bedroom in rose petals and stuff.


• They’re all at a competition together. Because they’re in a relationship or already used to fooling around, they decide to make it interesting and have a threesome where whoever is in the lead at the competitions gets to decide what’s happening in the bedroom and whoever is last out of the three of them has to serve the other two.

A Song of Ice and Fire – G. R. R. Martin

Stannis Baratheon/Ned Stark/Davos Seaworth
I always thought that stern Ned Stark would fit very well with either Stannis or Davos, and why not both of them together? Arranged marriage is my jam, so please feel free to make gay marriage an option in Westeros.
I know it’s pretty difficult to avoid my cheating DNW while staying in the canon timeline here, so feel free to handwave their marriages away (annulled? they were widowed? divorce is allowed in Westeros? the wives have their own lovers and/or they are separated, if still married in law?) or have them never happen.

• Ned managed to make contact with Davos, who was at Robert’s court, to help him smuggle his daughters out of the city before he made his accusation, counting on Davos’ help, as Stannis would want justice for his family. Maybe Davos managed to convince Ned to come along and so he doesn’t get beheaded? And now he’s at Dragonstone with Stannis and Davos and gets to know them better.


• Ned and Stannis are betrothed when they are young men. After the war, Ned shows up with his bastard Jon, which to a man as strict as Stannis can’t be an easy pill to swallow. Can Davos help them fix their relationship? And accidentally get way too deep into it? Do Stannis and him ever learn the truth about Jon?


• Or, being Ned’s husband and a knight, Stannis actually rode with Ned to the Tower of Joy, so he knows about Jon Snow’s heritage. What does the game of pretend they have to play for the world mean for their marriage? And how does Davos get mixed up in it? Maybe as he has sons of his own already (however he came by them) Ned and Stannis are happy to have him around to help? And since he’s around so much, he gets to know them both intimately.


• Ned and Stannis unite against the Lannisters and take the throne. To solidify the arrangement, they decide to get married afterwards. Ned knows or is eventually told that Stannis was with Davos before the marriage. He expects Davos to stay around as a concubine, but Stannis and Davos are probably too straight-laced for that. Intrigued by their behaviour, and perhaps trying to find out more about his husband’s preferences, Ned gets closer to Davos. Eventually, the three of them end up together.


• Ned and Stannis are wedded, but they find out neither of them can bear children. By old tradition, they’re allowed to choose a surrogate of sorts, someone of lower station who will bear their children but not be officially recognised. Davos has already given birth to some kids and obviously there are few other people that Stannis trusts...


• If you just want to write me threesome smut, I’m totally here for that, too! I prefer bottom Davos, no preference for the other two.

Stannis Baratheon/Oberyn Martell/Davos Seaworth
I don’t think they met that we know of, but Oberyn Martell was such a colourful character that I’m sure he must be very interesting in combination with these two more sober men. Arranged marriage is my jam, so please feel free to make gay marriage an option in Westeros.

• An alliance with Dorne that recognises the Martell’s former position with having one of their own as spouse to the next king while allowing them revenge on the Lannisters – now that might have given Stannis an edge. Unfortunately, he already has a lover, but Davos recognises this might be necessary to keep Stannis alive in the long run and decides to step back. But Oberyn Martell is not so easily tricked and quite interested in Stannis’ former lover that he so obviously still cares for, as much as he also finds Stannis himself different from what he expected and intriguing.


• Oberyn has travelled extensively in the Free Cities, even was a mercenary, and Davos has been around there as well when he was still a smuggler – maybe they met, and maybe there was a bit more to it than that. Imagine their surprise when they meet again at court, Davos now with Stannis. Now Oberyn is interested what his former lover/old acquaintance sees in Stannis, who is so obviously different from Oberyn, and perhaps decides he wants to win them both.


• In an effort to keep Dorne attached to the realm, Lord Arryn arranges a betrothal between Oberyn and Stannis after Robert's war is ended. From the tales, Stannis is probably not convinced at all that he’s going to have anything in common with his new husband and does not look forward to the union. Oberyn isn’t exactly interested in legitimising the rule of the Baratheons further, either. Maybe Davos tries to smooth things over for his new lord and thereby ends up very much in the middle of the relationship…

By old tradition, they’re allowed to choose a surrogate of sorts, someone of lower station who will bear their children but not be officially recognised.
